Charles Joseph Faulknor (1833-92) was a mathematician and fellow of University College, Oxford and a founding partner of Morris, Marshall, Faulkner and Co. He was a college friend of William Morris and Edward Burne-Jones, and worked with them on a number of projects, including the Oxford Union murals and the decoration of Red House. In 1861, he become a founder-shareholder and bookkeeper of Morris, Marshall, Faulkner and Co., also participating in the firm's design work including the painted chancel roof of St Michael's Church, Brighton. Faulkner left the firm in 1864 and returned to his fellowship at Oxford, although he maintained his ties to his erstwhile partners, accompanying Morris and Eiríkr Magnússon on their 1871 trip to Iceland. Faulkner resigned his Oxford fellowship in 1888 due to illness and died in 1892.[1]
