This article is very poorly researched and has no sources. It is discredited by family scholars and should not be considered authoritative with respect to the early Scottish and Irish history of the family. undo Tags: references removed Visual edit

The epithet "The Saxon" was a fanciful description first used by Mary Winder Garrett in her articles about the Polk family that appeared in the The American Historical Magazine, Nashville, in 1896-1899. There is no basis in fact for this nor for much of her account of the Pollok line of descent from Renfrewshire to Ireland. A much better source is Crawfurd's "General Description of the Shire of Refrew"... undo Tags: Mobile edit Mobile web edit
