I strongly disagree that this page should be deleted on the basis that it is either advertisement '''or''' non-notable. Neither of these criteria applies to the body of work and information described in these pages

The NeSSI (New Sampling/Sensor Imitative) is a major response to critical problems in the chemical and petrochemical industries (really all types of process where sampling the process stream with some sort of on-line test). The Initiative came out of The Center for Process Analytical Chemistry (CPAC) at the University of Washington, Seattle WA, USA in response to end-users from companies asking if there wasn't something that could be done on an industry-wide basis to improve sampling system reliability and reduce the cost of implementing and maintaining them. The development of NeSSI has been a collaborative effort between these Industrial end-users, manufacturers who supply the industries, and academic researchers working in the field. These efforts have resulted in commercially available hardware, published ISA/ANSI standards, and numerous published papers and presentations in open and industry related literature and conferences. The end result is that NeSSI is rapidly becoming an accepted and ''de facto'' standard in many industries.

These pages are intended to provide some of the background and justification for NeSSI and to provide a starting reference point for others interested in researching or implementing NeSSI systems for sampling, monitoring, or developing new products for the NeSSI platform. The NeSSI page itself is a collaborative effort of individuals (including myself) representing a cross-section of interests and perspectives. Therefore, I am providing this as a discussion point rather than editing the page itself...something we would be very willing to do if there are specific concerns that an be brought up thru this discussion.

== Duplication of Copyrighted material (speedy deletion) ==

The material on the CPAC web site [http://www.cpac.washington.edu/NeSSI/NeSSI_Wikipedia_Dec18_06.doc] was placed there by me in anticipation of this public Wikipedia page becoming public. This allowed us to solicite comments and input on the page we finally submitted (this page). It also allowed us to advertise that we were preparing a Wikipedia page to our NeSSI enthusists mailing list. (Note that I am also one of the collaborators on the Wiki page)

Now that the Wiki page has been published, I will remove the web site document and replace it with a link to the Wikipedia page. [already done]

Thanks

==What is this article about?==

Acording to the openning sentence NeSSI is an "initaiative". It is really not clear from the article what it is. Is it a for example "a project to produce a standar for interoperable instrumentation"? Is it a standard? Is it a project to create the instrumentation? Even teh project web site is not clear, it just starts with News? Do the people writing this and members of teh NeSSI project actually know what the project is? If so can they please explain.
