San Sebastian College - Recoletos de Manila (SSC-R) or Colegio de San Sebastian - Recoletos de Manila, is a Catholic institution of higher learning recognized by the Philippine Government. The school is a part of the Recollect schools in the Philippines, it is owned and operated by the Augustinian Recollect Fathers.

The College was given Level 3 accredition by the Philippine Accrediting Association of Schools, Colleges and Universities in the Elementary department, High School Department and the College Department including the Graduate Studies and College of Law.

San Sebastian College Sports

The San Sebastian Golden Stags (also SSC-R Stags) are the National Collegiate Athletic Association (Philippines) basketball team of the San Sebastian College - Recoletos.

Their 5 consecutive NCAA seniors basketball championships is the longest streak in the NCAA.

The other seniors varsity teams may also be referred to as the Stags. The juniors team are the San Sebastian Staglets, while the women's teams are the San Sebastian Lady Stags.

The Recollect fathers chose a stag for it symbolizes a Christian who, filled with moral ideas, runs fast to God swiftly yet quietly in pursuit of his goals.

The staple cheer is Bravo Baste. The supporters of the San Sebastian Golden Stags are known as "bronx warriors"

Their most prominent rival is the Colegio de San Juan de Letran

SSC-R Facts

San Sebastian College-Recoletos, Manila opened its doors to about 80 students in 1941 until the outbreak of war jolted its operation.

1946-47 conceded to be the first regular year of San Sebastian College, Manila.

In 1946, it had a combined enrollment of 200 pupils and students.

In 1947, a two-story edifice of gothic architecture was constructed.

Few years later the third building was constructed after the old convent was demolished.

In 1954, an annex was added to the second building consisting of four levels.

In 1959, an impressive and imposing building was constructed which houses the college auditorium, a 1200-seater equipped with modern technical facilities.

In 1966, a five-story edifice was inaugurated which is now shared by the elementary and collegiate levels.

Now, the elementary, high school, and collegiate departments both enjoy the “accredited” status from the “PAASCU
