surviving or not
the article was written based on old info that the cottage was standing. now if it is no longer there, it seems inaccurate to emphasize that it is surviving. to the contrary, emphasize that it was a treasure that was destroyed, even after received NHL status. :Done. The cottage was not destroyed; it was dismantled and is now partially on exhibit in the state museum (If anyone is up in the Albany area, getting a pic of that and uploading it would be nice). Daniel Case 16:14, 8 November 2007 (UTC)

Another great Hudson Valley article
Another HV article which could easily (and should) go to GAN. <font color = "green">Juliancolton</font> <em>(<span style="color:goldenrod">St. Patrick's day</span></em>) 17:29, 14 March 2008 (UTC)

Article name
The current article name is Springside (Matthew Vassar Estate). Is "Matthew Vassar Estate" an alternative proper name for this estate, or should "estate" be rendered in lower case to conform with WP:MOS rules on capitalization (which call for use of initial caps only for proper names)? --Orlady (talk) 21:19, 8 October 2008 (UTC)

:It seems it was me who was responsible for the current name "Springside (Matthew Vassar Estate)" from the day I created this article in September 2007, early in my wikipedia career. The official NRHP program name for the site is "Matthew Vassar Estate", with "Springside" listed as an alternative name in NRIS (as shown in Elkman NRHP generator report for the site). The official NHL program name is "Springside" (as shown in NHL summary webpage about the site, linked in article).
It appears that the combo "Springside (Matthew Vassar Estate)" was my own invention and is probably not a common name used by anyone for the site (unless some usage has copied the wikipedia article title).

:As an alternative, "Matthew Vassar Estate", as the NRHP official name on its own, would be a valid proper noun name for the article. Springside is already taken by the disambiguation page which includes a town of that name in Great Britain. It's not possible to determine a primary use of the Springside term, I expect. "Springside (Poughkeepsie, New York)" would be a reasonable, valid name, with (city, state)-format disambiguating location phrase. I don't think the current name "Springside (Matthew Vassar Estate)" is bad on its own. But it does seem that "Springside (Matthew Vassar estate)" might be better as it does not depend upon insistence that Matthew Vassar Estate is a proper noun name. But simpler still, why not just "Springside (Poughkeepsie, New York)"? That would be consistent with NRHP naming conventions generally. I currently think that last would be best.
