Gianluca Paparesta (born 25 May 1969 in Bari) was an Italian football referee. He was implicated in the 2006 Calciopoli Scandal and has not refereed since, even if has been fully acquitted from every charge he had been indicted under. Ever since, he spontaneously resigned from the referee organization and began his career as a soccer TV columnist. Many in Italy still consider him to be the best referee in Italy.

He has never refereed any World Championship or European Championship matches, but has refereed nine matches in the UEFA Cup[1]
