I think the first occurrence is also a typo: the main purpose of the example is to show that it is possible to select parts of a record, not to show that column names can be different (it does mention different table schemas, but that seems to only be an aside). If it's intentional, the column name in phone_book2 should be changed to something obviously different (e.g. "work_number"). undo

It's a non-standard quoting mechanism used by MS Access and SQL Server (reference: https://www.sqlite.org/lang_keywords.html), and it's confusing because the rest of the article uses square brackets to indicate optional elements. Quoting isn't necessary here because the column names are not keywords. Also drop double quotes from column names in another snippet for consistency. undo
