Early Life

Susan Barlow (previously Baldwin) was a fictional character in Coronation Street. She was the daughter of Ken and Valerie Barlow and twin sister of Peter Barlow. She was born on April 15, 1965. When Valerie died in a house fire on January 27, 1971 Peter and Susan were sent to live in Scotland with their grandmother.

Marriage To Mike Baldwin

In 1981 Susan returned to Coronation Street were she lived with her father and stepmother Deirdre. In 1985 she began an affair with her fathers sworn enemy Mike Baldwin and married him on 6 May 1986. The marriage was happy at first, but Susan and Mike clashe when she decided she wanted a career. Mike was old fashioned thinking a womans place was at home caring for the house. In August 1987 Susan learned she was pregnant. Mike was thrilled, but Susan feared a baby would ruin her job. In October she left Mike and went to London for two weeks, then returned and told everyone she had an abortion. Mike called her a "murdering bitch" and threw her out of the house. Susan briefly stayed at her fathers before moving to Scotland and was never seen again until January 2001. Early in 1988 Mike divorced her citing "cruelty" as grounds.

ReApperance

By January 2001 Peter was living with Ken and Deirdre. While arguing with Ken Peter slipped and told Ken a big secret about Susan, she had lied about the abortion in 1987 and in May of 1988 had given birth to a son, Adam Barlow. Susan had only told Peter this. Ken went to Scotland to visit Susan and she made him swear not to tell Mike. Ken told Deirdre and Deirdre told her ex-lover Devend Aldren. Deven then told Mike. Mike called Susan and demanded to see his son. Susan who wa now back on Coronation Street visiting refused. Mike then threatened her with legal action. Susan tried to flee again with Adam, but on 11 Febuary 2001 while driving on the M7 she lost control of her car and ran off the motorway and struck a tree. Susan was killed instantly but Adam suffered only minor injuries. Susan was buried next her mother Valerie.
