Overview

The project coordinators are generally responsible for maintaining all of the procedural and administrative aspects of the project, and serve as the designated points-of-contact for procedural issues. They are not, however, endowed with any special rights or executive powers.

The Deputy Coordinator positions exist to give people experience in the job before the current Lead Coordinator position comes up for reelection. This May 2007 election will serve to fill the Deputy Coordinator positions only.

The primary responsibility of the project coordinators is the maintenance and housekeeping work involved in keeping the project and its internal processes running smoothly; this includes a variety of tasks, such as keeping the announcement and open task lists updated, overseeing the assessment and peer review processes, managing the proposal and creation of task forces, and so forth. There is fairly little involved that couldn't theoretically be done by any other editor, but as often as people tend to assume that someone else is doing whatever needs to be done, it has proven beneficial in other projects to formally delegate responsibility for this administrative work to a specified person or group.

Election process

• The election will run for one week, starting at 00:00 (UTC) on May 1 and ending at 23:59 (UTC) on May 6.

• Any member of the project may nominate themselves for a position by adding their statement in the "Candidates" section below by the start of the election. The following boilerplate can be used:

• The election will be conducted using simple approval voting. Any member of the project may support as many of the candidates as they wish. The top three candidates with the highest number of endorsements will become the next three Deputy Coordinators.

• Both project members and interested outside parties are encouraged to ask questions of the nominees or make general comments.

I'd like to give it a try. :-) I believe I can help with the tasks described above, especially the maintenance, peer reviews and probably the translation department. As I no longer contribute actively to articles here (I do that at the Spanish project), it'd be a great way for me to not lose contact with this project and still be able to help and contribute to it in some way. I didn't initially add myself because I'll be busy-ish with exams through mid- to late-May, but after that I'll have plenty of time. I'm perfectly happy doing housecleaning work (e.g.), so I think I'd enjoy the job. Fireplace 00:51, 1 May 2007 (UTC)
