Monk comes to a firehouse to get his smoke detectors checked.When the firemen are called to put out a fire, Monk is left with a retired fireman named Rusty. A man walks into the firehouse and Rusty get bludgeoned with a shovel, then pours bleach in Monk's eyes, causing Monk to lose his eyesight.
