On Battle of lattakia

There is already an article for this battle at Battle of Latakia. In the future, please try to search for the existence of the article you want to create (and check for any misspellings on your part) before creating an article. Thanks, and happy editing! Jack the Ripper suspects

I reverted your most recent edits to this section. I'm going to specifically explain why directly to you so you can see the reasoning and not make similar edits in the future:

  1. You said all the murders were within a mile and that Kosminski lived within a mile. First up, we're not exactly sure where Kosminski lived at the time. Second, even if he did live within a mile that's not particularly meaningful, as tens of thousands of people lived within a mile of the murders, and that includes a significant portion of the most realistic suspects. This fact seems to be trying to advance Kosminski as a suspect by presenting information out of context.
  2. You wrote: "Kosminski, however had a deep, homicidal hatred of women." We don'tknow that at all. His hospital records don't suggest anything of the sort. A police official said this when trying to argue why Kosminski should be considered a good suspect, but that same official made a number of mistakes in his other statements.
  3. "This could be why the ripper removed the wombs from his victims." That just sounds like personal theorizing, and, again, lots of other suspects could have had the same reason.
  4. "He confessed shortly before he was transferred to the asylum, but it is unknown whether he lied of not." I've never seen any source ever make this claim, and certainly if he had confessed the sources that want to paint him as the Ripper would have mentioned it. We don't put claims into the encyclopedia without some outside reliable source to back it up. No source was provided, and no source for this can be because it's not true.

Someone else reverted your recent edit there, but I'll explain that to you as well:

  • "Aaron Kosminski is, however, the only suspect to have been identified by a witness." This is incorrect two different ways. John Pizer was identified by a witness, and is documented as having been so. William Grant Granger was identified by a witness, and is again documented as having been so. We don't know that Kosminski really was identified. Anderson and Swanson say he was, other sources, including Smith, Macnaghten and Abberline etc. either outright say or imply that he wasn't.
  • "Israel Schwartz, a Hugarian Jew, saw a man who he claimed to have been Aaron Kosminski attack a woman whom he saw with him." completely false. There are no records of Schwartz ever saying this. Anderson claimed a witness identified Kosminski, but we do not know if this was real or that the witness was Schwartz. Strong evidence suggest that Lawende would have been the one used to make an attempted identification.
  • "Not much later, the body of Elizabeth Stride was found in the same spot."' True, but with the rest of the information removed as inaccurate, this sentence would no longer make sense to be left there.
  • "Israel Schwartz resfused to testify in court against a fellow Jew, however, and Kosminski was let free" -- AS above, we do not know that it was Schwartz, and we do not know that Swanson's claim was accurate, as it was disputed by other officials.

Please remember that Wikipedia is not a place to try to advance suspects. Any information added must be accurate, come from a reliable source, and not be written in a way to try to argue in favor of someone's theory. DreamGuy (talk) 13:47, 8 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion of Jhk;l kn

A tag has been placed on Jhk;l kn, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to have no meaningful content or history, and the text is unsalvageably incoherent. If the page you created was a test, please use the sandbox for any other experiments you would like to do. Feel free to leave a message on my talk page if you have any questions about this.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. justinfr (talk) 00:05, 23 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Agent of Consent

Hi, I reverted your change to the age of consent article. Sorry to step on your toes. You added "It is illegal in the United States for someone over the age of 18 to have sexual relations with someone under the age of consent, which is refered to as statutory rape "

The problem is that the Age of Consent laws are much more complex than this. It varies widely by legal jurisdiction. In most states in the U.S. there are two primary criteria, first is usually the age difference between the two people. The second is the role of the person who the adolescent is involved with. Usually the age difference is something like 4 years, but can be staggered even in one state where the difference in age depends on the age of the adolescent. As I said, common is a four year difference. Secondarily, the role of the older person is important. If it is a school friend, that is one thing, it if is a relative, a priest, a teacher, a therapist, or some other person in a position of "authority" over the adolescent, the age difference often is not relevant.

Getting back to your statement -- in many states a 15 year old girl and a 19 yearl old boy would not be breaking the law if they were boyfriend and girlfriend (as long as he was not in a position of authority). Note that he is older than 18, having sexual relations with someone under the age of consent. A 13 year old and a 17 year old might be legal in some places. Of course, over the age of consent, (16 in many places) the girl could choose to have sexual relations with anyone (not in a position of authority over her) a long as they were older than the age difference (for a 16 year old, from age 12 through any age -- 25, 30, 50 for instance. as She had reached the age of consent, she could consent as she chose. Again, this does often not include withsomeone in a position of authority, or a family member. Atom (talk) 04:18, 13 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Operation Sharp and Smooth - casualties

I keep reverting your addition of 1 Israeli soldier killed and 2 wounded in this operation, since this is just not true. In case you are referring to the August 19 incident, then it is an entirely different operation. It is not described in this article, since the operations are not related, and thus the casualties of the latter should not be reported for the former. Speedy deletion of "Bohater"

A page you created, Bohater, has been tagged for deletion, as it meets one or more of the criteria for speedy deletion; specifically, it is about a real person, group of people, band, club, company, organisation, or web content, but does not indicate why its subject is important or significant.

You are welcome to contribute content which complies with our content policies and any applicable inclusion guidelines. However, please do not simply re-create the page with the same content. You may also wish to read our introduction to editing and guide to writing your first article.

Thank you. Fieldday-sunday (talk) 16:48, 25 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion of Tank driver

A tag has been placed on Tank driver requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.
