I'm not entirely happy about Image:Amcoa.jpg. I have a feeling that it is against Wikipedia policy to use images whose terms of permission exclude third-party use. --Paul A 09:15, 2 Mar 2004 (UTC)

Only if that restricts others. It's routine in publishing to seek permission, even very limited permission, when it's not really needed. That provides protection against a time and money wasting legal case. It's a prudent step for many uploaders and is likely to be required much of the time when non-US people use items which qualify for fair use in the US. Sometimes US people assume incorrectly that having a license that's restrictive restricts the right to fair use, which isn't the case. Even in the US for fair use materials, it's just a cheap way for the uploader to get legal protection. Jamesday 08:12, 13 May 2004 (UTC)[reply]
