Image Tagging Image:Ln1.jpg

Warning sign
This image may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:Ln1.jpg. I notice the image page currently doesn't specify who created the image, so the copyright status is therefore unclear. If you have not created the image yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the image on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the image yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the image also doesn't have a copyright tag then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture then you can use {{GFDL}} to release it under the GFDL. If you can claim fair use use {{fairusein|article name}} or {{fairuse}}. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other images, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of image pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. --keepsleeping quit your job! slack off! 01:51, 5 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

There are actually several images you've uploaded that need this information; I also noticed that you're using a lot of them on your User page, and have added some to User templates. If they are not free-use or GFDL-licensed images, though, they can only be used in article namespace as fair use, and not in user space. Please keep that in mind when tagging and uploading images in the future. thanks! --keepsleeping quit your job! slack off! 01:51, 5 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Ok...the Leslie Nielsen image is from this website [1]

the Conan O'Brien Image is from right here on Wikipedia (I just cropped it in photoshop) the Ladies Man image is from right here also, again I just cropped it

Let me know of any other images you have questions about. Weatherman90 01:58, 5 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Okay, those are fair use images. You need to tag them with one of the image copyright tags and add the source to the actual image page, not just here. Also, since you didn't create them and they're not public domain, they're not allowed in anything that's not an article — and that includes user templates and user pages. Sorry about that. --keepsleeping quit your job! slack off! 02:12, 5 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

But the ladies and conan images are from right here on wikipedia...how can I not use them here? Weatherman90 02:29, 5 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Images in article space and images in non-article space have different rules that apply. The image of Conan O'Brien, for example, is fine to use in the article about Conan O'Brien, because it directly relates to the subject of the article. Using it anywhere else, you can't make a claim of fair use, which is necessary to use the image legally — otherwise, you're infringing on the copyright of whomever owns the picture. You're welcome to use GFDL and other free use images in your userspace, though, and you can find thousands of them in the WikiMedia Commons. --keepsleeping quit your job! slack off! 04:09, 5 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
