In 1996, Barker joined his first touring band, playing drums for [[The Aquabats]] as The Baron Von Tito. He recorded one album with them, ''[[The Fury of the Aquabats!]]'', in 1997. His career took off when he joined up with [[pop punk]] band, Blink-182 in 1998. Barker became known for his [[mohawk hairstyle|mohawk]] and his tendency to perform without a shirt, revealing a multitude of [[tattoo]]s. Barker has since established himself as a versatile drummer, producing and guest appearing in music projects of numerous [[music genre]]s including [[hip-hop music|hip-hop]], [[punk rock]], [[alternative rock]], [[ska]], [[pop music|pop]] and even [[country music|country]].

Barker's marriage to former Miss USA [[Shanna Moakler]] was featured in MTV's ''[[Meet the Barkers]]'' (2005–2006). His marriage and personal life have been considerable media fodder following his divorce in 2006 and a brief relationship with [[Hilton Hotel]] heiress [[Paris Hilton]].<ref>{{cite news | last = | first = | title =Paris and Travis Barker | publisher =TMZ | date= 2006-09-13 | url =http://www.tmz.com/2006/09/13/exclusive-paris-and-travis-barker-hook-up/ | accessdate =2008-09-17}}</ref>

==Early life==
Barker was born in a poverty-stricken neighborhood in [[Fontana, California]]. He received his first [[drum set]] at the age of four. He began taking drum and trumpet lessons at the age of five. The day before Barker started his [[high school freshman|freshman]] year at [[Fontana High School]], his mother died. She told him before she died to continue playing the drums because that was what he was good at, and he listened to her. After her death, Barker became more serious about drumming. He joined a [[marching band]] in his [[Tenth grade|sophomore]] year and made the snare line. During high school he performed at regional competitions and festivals. During his [[12th grade|senior]] year of high school, Barker passed up [[Drum and bugle corps (modern)|drum corps]] tryouts to tour with his first band, [[Feeble]].

After graduating from high school in 1993, Barker gained more experience as a rock drummer in a few early bands including Feeble and [[The Aquabats]]. In the latter, he was known as ''Baron Von Tito''.<ref>{{cite news | last =Higgins | first =John | title =Review: The Aquabats in Yeovil | publisher =BBC News | date= 2005-10-28 | url =http://www.bbc.co.uk/somerset/content/articles/2005/10/27/aquabats_review_feature.shtml | accessdate =2007-02-23}}</ref>

From 1993 through 1998, Barker also worked a series of odd jobs and taught drum lessons to support himself. Though he continued to teach privately through 2002, Barker (while appearing on MTV's ''[[TRL]]'', in 2003) mentioned that he no longer gives private drum lessons.

==Blink-182 (1998–2005)==
deletion of user Ansakhad..I think there has been a misunderstanding. I didn't plan advertisement. I was told to write an article up for amendment to my username, which I did. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Requests_for_page_protection#.7B.7Bla.7CPakpassion.7D.7D
{{Main|Blink-182}}
In 1998, Travis Barker began touring with [[The Aquabats]], under the stage name "The Baron Von Tito". [[Blink-182]] was also on the bill, and when then-drummer [[Scott Raynor]] was removed from the band, Barker was asked to fill in. This required him to learn the entire set (over 20 songs) in less than two hours and perform them at that night's show, in addition to playing a set with The Aquabats. His efforts earned him much appreciation and respect, and an offer to join [[Blink-182]], which Barker accepted.

Perhaps I did it wrong, I'm unaware. I didn't know where else on my userspace I can put it.
With Barker, [[Blink-182]] released their best selling album to date, ''[[Enema of the State]]'' (1999), followed by ''[[Take off Your Pants and Jacket]]'' (2001), and ''[[Blink-182 (album)|Blink-182]]'' (2003). After seven years of drumming with Blink-182, in February 2005, the band split up.

Thank you. ([[User:Ansakhad|ansakhad]] ([[User talk:Ansakhad|talk]]) 17:24, 4 October 2008 (UTC))
Regarding a reunion, Barker states "I don't know [if it will happen]. You know, to be honest with you, I haven't spoken to Tom [DeLonge] in three years. I speak to Mark [Hoppus] every day, he's one of my greatest friends, so...that's the status of that. I think everyone would have to be friends, and I think we'd all have to want to do it in order for it to happen." <ref>http://losangeles.metromix.com/style/article/q-and-a-travis/520840/content</ref>

*Please note that I did restore the revisions to [[User:Ansakhad]]'s edit history, to enable Ansakhad to fix the article, but I forgot to include an explanation in the restore log. I have also advised Ansakhad to create a subpage in user space in which to work on the article there. --[[User:Metropolitan90|Metropolitan90]] [[User talk:Metropolitan90|(talk)]] 18:11, 4 October 2008 (UTC)
Barker says he has always been interested in many genres of music outside of punk rock, especially hip-hop. In a 2002 interview with MTV he said, "I probably listen to more hip-hop and drum'n'bass than I do punk rock music.".<ref name="mtv">{{cite news | last =Moss | first =Corey | title =Transplants Fuse Bands and Styles, Much to Ire of Punk Police | publisher =MTV News | date= 2002-10-23 | url =http://www.mtv.com/news/articles/1458285/10222002/transplants.jhtml | accessdate =2006-08-20}}</ref> Not being able to explore these interests within Blink-182, Barker participated in two [[hip-hop]] related side projects during that the time: [[Transplants (band)|Transplants]] and [[Expensive Taste]].

==Rocker85==
[[Box Car Racer]] is a side project begun with [[Tom DeLonge]] of Blink-182 in 2002. This project resulted in one [[Box Car Racer (album)|self-titled]] album which was released that year. DeLonge said he asked Barker to play drums so that he wouldn't have to find and pay a session drummer to come in.
Hi, I couldn't help but notice that you have deleted several of my contributions that I worked very hard to create, including several brand new pages that I had just made. Yes, I know these pages were short and lacked content, but you must know it takes time to write a long and informative page on wikipedia. [[Transplants (band)|Transplants]] is a hip-hop induced punk band for which Barker partnered with [[Tim Armstrong]] of [[Rancid (band)|Rancid]] and [[Rob Aston]] (former roadie for Rancid). Transplants released two studio records as well as a remixed version of their second album which was [[chopped and screwed]] by rapper and hip-hop artist, [[Paul Wall]].<ref>{{cite news | title =Transplants Team Up with Paul Wall for First Chopped-and-Screwed Rock LP | publisher =MTV News | date= 2005-06-20 | url =http://www.mtv.com/#/news/articles/1504411/20050620/transplants.jhtml | accessdate =2007-02-21}}</ref> The first album released by Transplants was their self-titled album in 2002. The second Transplants record, ''[[Haunted Cities]]'', was released by [[LaSalle Records]] in June 2005. After the [[Vans]] [[Warped Tour]] of 2005, the members decided to disband. This was confirmed by vocalist [[Rob Aston]] in January 2006 during an interview. {{Fact|date=July 2007}}

Hi,
Barker has produced or worked on albums with the [[Black Eyed Peas]], [[P!nk]] and [[Pharrell]]. He appears on [[Bun B]]'s album, ''[[Trill (album)|Trill]]'' (2005) with [[Skinhead Rob]] for the bonus track, "Late Night Creepin'". In 2006 he was a producer on [[T.I.]]'s fourth album, ''King''. Also in 2006 he played drums for several songs on [[Avril Lavigne]]'s third album.<ref>{{cite news | title =Avril Lavigne, Deryck Whibley Dish Details on 'Fun, Young, Bratty' LP | publisher =MTV News | date= 2006-12-18 | url =http://www.mtv.com/#/news/articles/1548280/20061218/lavigne_avril.jhtml | accessdate =2007-02-21}}</ref>He also dueted with [[Rihanna]] on a remix of her hit "[[Umbrella (song)|Umbrella]]", he also appeared in her video.

I think these qualify under {{tl|R from another language}} since they are the original language names for the article in question ([[Feitian space suit]]), so are indeed likely search terms. If someone read an article and copypasted or typed in the original name, shouldn't they be able to reach the correct article? In late 2005 Barker started a new band, [[+44 (band)|+44]] with fellow Blink-182 member [[Mark Hoppus]] and in 2006, he and [[Rob Aston]] joined Paul Wall in forming a new hip-hop group called [[Expensive Taste]].

You used CSD reason R3
Recently, Travis Barker has made a very well received remix of Soulja Boy's "Crank That". In a similar fashion to the Soulja Boy remix, he has also remixed [[Flo Rida]]'s single "[[Low (Flo Rida song)|Low]]" that was later included within the deluxe version of Flo Rida's debut album. Barker's remix of "Low" will be featured in ''[[Guitar Hero: World Tour]]''. Barker is also featured on [[The Game (rapper)|The Game]]'s latest album, ''[[L.A.X.]]'', drumming on the song "[[Dope Boys]]."
:''"Recently created redirects from implausible typos or misnomers. However, redirects from common misspellings or misnomers are generally useful, as are redirects in other languages."''
This says "redirects in other languages are generally useful"
[[Special:Contributions/70.51.8.75|70.51.8.75]] ([[User talk:70.51.8.75|talk]]) 09:13, 5 October 2008 (UTC)
:Hi there, this is a difficult one & I can see both sides of the coin. I've tried to see if there is a consensus by looking through [[:Category:Redirects from alternative languages]] but I'm still not sure. I have always read the "redirect from another language as being more related to things such as [[Kyiv]] (topical one that one - read the talk page! - but I digress), or [[Das Wohltemperirte Clavier]] rather than a literal transalation of every article's name in to other languages, particulary those with non-Latin character sets. This is why I feel that the two (Mandarin?) words/phrases you have mentioned equally fall in to the territory of unlikely/implausible phrases for a person to type on the English language Wikipedia. But the bottom line is that I am one admin & one opinion (which is a valid opinion but equally is far from unchallengable). The redirects were speedily deleted so as there was no deletion discussion there is no community consensus for their deletion which means that you are free to recreate. If they are renominated for deletion I will recuse myself from the process and we'll see what others think. Sound OK to you? Kind regards, [[User:Nancy|<span style="font-family:Segoe Script;color:#FF6600;font-size:14px">Nancy</span>]][[User talk:Nancy|<span style="font-family:Segoe Script;font-size:14px"> talk</span>]] 17:52, 6 October 2008 (UTC)
::Well, there's the essay [[Wikipedia:Redirects for discussion/Redirects from foreign languages]] . The article's name is a phonetic and literal translation of the actual name. (ie. It's a chinese spacesuit, the actual name is in chinese, not English). From the bit about non-Latin characters, doesn't that indicate bias, since English is used in Hong Kong as an official language, where Chinese characters are prevalent, or India, where non-Latin script is common and English is widely used. But we already use a lot of implausible names that people would type for actual article names (all the non-ASCII ones, and particularly, the widespread use of eszett, a non-English, non-Roman character, that is very likely to be interpretted as a "B" or beta). ==Business ventures==
Barker owns and contributes to several businesses in addition to his musical interests. He founded an accessory/apparel company called [[Famous Stars and Straps]] in 1999 which sells street/skate style clothing and gear. Barker has said the brand's trademark "F" for the logo was chosen for its resemblance to a car logo but mainly for the fact that it can stand on its own.

I set up this page some years back to acurately reflect the history of this club, and after 2007 it was left to the Club to continue to update it. The Club is still a prominent club within the Loughborough Athletic Union. Can you please reverse the deletion?

:Hi there Eltep. Yes, the article was deleted in August as it had been [[WP:PROD|proposed for deletion]] due to lack of notability. I have just reviewed the text again and I have to say that I think that the original tagging and subsequent deletion were absolutely correct. Our [[WP:NOTE|notability guidelines]] say that if the club has received significant coverage in [[Wikipedia:Reliable sources|reliable sources]] that are [[Wikipedia:Verifiability#Sources|independent]] of the subject, then it can be presumed to satisfy the inclusion criteria for a stand-alone article and I see no assertion of notability in the article and have been unable to find anything in the [http://news.google.co.uk/archivesearch?hl=en&client=firefox-a&rls=org.mozilla:en-GB:official&hs=UK0&um=1&ie=UTF-8&tab=wn&q=%22loughborough+students+union+gliding+club%22 news archives either]. You mention above that the club is "prominent within the Loughborough Athletic Union" which I have no doubt is true however for inclusion in Wikipedia it needs to be notable in a wider context and for this reason I am unwilling to restore the page. I would normally offer to copy the content to your userspace but I guess you don't need it as you have full access to it as deletionpedia already. Barker's first tattoo was the word "BONES" (a nickname when he was a kid) on his leg which he got when he was 17 years old.<ref name="tattoos">{{cite web | last =Barker | first =Travis | authorlink =Travis Barker | title =Travis Barker: Tattoos | publisher =PunkDisasters.com | url =http://www.punkdisasters.com/?side=travis_tattoos | format =html | accessdate =2006-07-29}}</ref> Another addition is the phrase "SELF MADE" spelled out across his knuckles which he got in 2000.<ref name="tattoos" />
:::Make them wish they hadn't
Some of his numerous tattoos include religious art as he says he was brought up [[Catholic]].<ref name="tattoos" /> He has a portrait of [[Jesus]] above his left biceps, hands in prayer on the left side of his head (visible with his signature [[Mohawk hairstyle|mohawk]]) and a [[Sacred Heart]]. Barker has a few tattoos that symbolize his love for cars and Cadillacs in particular - two [[racing flags]] on the side of his neck with the number 66 which symbolizes the year of his favorite Cadillac and a Cadillac emblem surrounded by [[mudflap girl]]s on his chest as well as a pair of [[spark plug]]s.<ref name="tattoos" /> Another well known Cadillac tattoo is the word "Cadillac" on the side of his body.
:::If they give me any lip.

:::I draw no unfair distinction
Much of his [[body art]] is devoted to his love of music such as the phrase "[[Can I Say]]" (which is the name of [[Dag Nasty]]'s first album), a [[microphone]], and a [[boom box]] on his stomach for his love of [[breakdance|breakdancing]] when he was growing up.<ref name="tattoos" /> Barker also has the word "HOPE" on his back because of the [[Descendents (band)|Descendents]]' song and something positive after his mother's death. He has another tribute to the Descendents on his leg - the cover art to the album, ''[[I Don't Want to Grow Up]]'', [[drum stick|drumsticks]] and [[note|musical notes]] on his right arm.
:::Rich or poor, short or lank,
:::But perfectly impartial
:::As I make them walk the plank.

:::I've a bo'sun plays the fiddle
Barker also makes several tributes to his family with the phrase "familia" on his arm, Japanese flowers on the back of his neck with a heart that says "Mom", and another heart with "SHANNA" on the banner.<ref name="tattoos" /> He also has the name of his first wife, "Melissa," just above the racing flags on the side of his neck. Barker has his son's name Landon on his left wrist.
:::As they walk it one by one.
:::And my brave boys line the bulwarks
:::To enjoy the harmless fun.

He considers his right arm his good luck arm and so has many luck emblems tattooed on that arm such as a [[deck of cards]], [[dice]], a [[dollar sign]], his lucky number seven, a skull with the number 13 in the eye sockets (13 is a [[lucky number]] in the tattoo culture), and a [[rabbit's foot]], in addition to a [[martini glass]], his initials, a devil from [[Black Label Skateboards]], and a [[spider web]] surrounding his elbow.<ref name="tattoos" />

You recently performed a history merge on [[Matt Hazard]] and [[Eat Lead: The Return of Matt Hazard]]. These were separate articles on separate subjects with parallel editing histories and should have been handled with a regular merge and redirect. Merging the histories has resulted in versions of the two articles being interleaved, muddling the edit history. Barker has a tattoo-quote by Henry Brooks Adams stating "Chaos Often Breeds Life, When Order Breeds Habit"; the quote is tattooed around Barker's neck, and can also be found on the spine of the Box Car Racer CD case.

In explanation of his large number of tattoos Barker has said, "I tattooed my body so I couldn't fall back on anything. I purposely did that so I couldn't get a normal job and live a normal life. I did it so I had to play music." He claims to have spent over $30,000 on his body art.<ref name="artistopia">{{cite web | title =Travis Barker Bio | publisher =Artistopia | date= 2006 | url =http://www.artistopia.com/travis-barker | format =html | accessdate =2006-07-29}}</ref>

Nancy,
==Relationships==
Barker has been married twice. He first married his relatively long time girlfriend, Melissa Kennedy, on [[September 22]], [[2001]]. The couple divorced [[August 6]], [[2002]] after eleven months of marriage.

I got your name on the Administrators list - we have not met yet.
Barker married [[actor|actress]] and [[Miss USA]] 1995, [[Shanna Moakler]], on [[October 30]], [[2004]]. The couple had a [[Goth subculture|Gothic]]-style ceremony inspired by the [[Tim Burton]] [[film]], ''[[The Nightmare Before Christmas]],'' which was held on the eve of [[Halloween]].<ref>{{cite news | title =Kindred Spirits: On Halloween Eve, rocker Travis Barker wed Shanna Moakler in gothic style | pages =78, v. 62, i. 20 | publisher =People | date= 2004-11-15}}</ref> Barker and Moakler have two children together, Landon Asher and Alabama Luella. Atiana Cecilia de la Hoya is Moakler's daughter with former boyfriend [[Oscar de la Hoya]]. The family appeared in a [[reality television]] [[television series|series]], ''[[Meet the Barkers]]'', which aired on [[MTV]] from 2005-2006.

I tried to post a biographical article about a business executive named Norris Lozano this morning and it was speedily deleted.
On [[August 8]], [[2006]], Barker filed for [[divorce]] from Moakler after nearly two years of marriage.<ref>{{cite news | title =''Meet the Barkers''<nowiki>'</nowiki> Travis, Shanna Split | publisher =People.com | date= 2006-08-08 | url =http://people.aol.com/people/article/0,26334,1224258,00.html | accessdate =2006-08-09}}</ref><ref>{{cite news | title =Blink-182 drummer files for divorce | publisher =NineMSN.com | date= 2006-08-10 | url =http://news.ninemsn.com.au/article.aspx?id=121364 | accessdate =2006-08-10}}</ref> The couple's divorce was made public as each used their [[MySpace]] pages to air their feelings on the matter.<ref name="myspace">{{cite news | title =''Barkers''' Shanna 'Devastated' over Split | publisher =People.com | date= 2006-08-10 | url =http://www.people.com/people/article/0,,1225041,00.html | accessdate =2007-02-22}}</ref> During their separation, Barker had a brief fling with [[Hilton Hotel]] heiress and [[socialite]], [[Paris Hilton]] in September, 2006.<ref>{{cite news | title =Shanna Feels 'Betrayed' by Travis & Paris | publisher =People.com | date= 2006-09-12 | url =http://www.people.com/people/article/0,,1534275,00.html | accessdate =2007-02-22}}</ref>

The reason given was "advertising" - which gives me some guidance about how to fix it. I'd like the opportunity to edit the piece down and take out the editorializing and just stick with the facts. I think the subject of the bio is valid.
Despite their pending divorce, reports surfaced in early 2007 that Barker and Moakler were "quietly trying to give it another go" as they were reportedly seen autographing a fan's book, with a heart around their names.<ref>{{cite news | last =Rocchio | first =Christopher | title =Report: ''Meet the Barkers''<nowiki>'</nowiki> Travis Barker, Shanna Moakler reconciling | publisher =Reality TV World | date= 2007-01-09 | url =http://www.realitytvworld.com/news/report-meet-barkers-travis-barker-shanna-moakler-reconciling-4523.php | accessdate =2007-01-21}}</ref>

I don't know what happens here, what if I were to edit the piece down and re-submit it? I've searched the site, but it seems like there is no "second chance"(?) in cases like this.
In March 2007, Moakler revealed to ''[[People (magazine)|People]]'' magazine that she and Barker (still married) are indeed back together, but denied that she was pregnant.<ref name=Together>{{cite news | last =Alexander | first =Bryan | coauthors =Helling, Steve | title =Shanna Moakler & Travis Barker Back Together | publisher =People | date= 2007-03-19 | url =http://www.people.com/people/article/0,,20015431,00.html | accessdate =2007-03-30}}</ref> This admission came after the couple was publicly affectionate at a surprise birthday Barker threw for his wife in [[Miami, Florida|Miami]].<ref name=Together/> People.com later reported that the couple had separated again. No reason was given for the split. Barker and Moakler were seen together at the 2007 Video Music Awards kissing and holding hands. However, as of February 11, 2008, the couple's divorce had been finalized.<ref name=Divorce>{{cite news | last =White | first =Nicolas | title =Travis Barker on Shanna Moakler: 'We Divorced' | publisher People | date =2008-02-11 | url =http://www.people.com/people/article/0,,20177387,00.html | accessdate =2008-02-11}}</ref>

==Film and television==
Travis has appeared in numerous films and television shows, most notably his own [[reality show]], ''[[Meet the Barkers]]'', with his wife Shanna Moakler which debuted in 2005. However, Barker can be found in a brief scene in the teen movie, ''American Pie''. In 2003, he appeared in an episode of [[MTV]]'s ''[[Punk'd]]'', a ''[[Candid Camera]]''-esque television show, in which he took part in a set up bareknuckle boxing match, he also appeared and spoke on MTV's ''Icon'' show honoring heavy metal band [[Metallica]] in May of that year.

In 2006 Barker starred in a [[Boost Mobile]] commercial,<ref>[http://www.boostmobilepivotalmoments.com/ "Travis's TV AD"]BoostMobilePivotalMoments.com.Travis Baker appeared on Justin Taylors talk show. Retrieved on [[July 29]], [[2006]].</ref> which was detailed in an episode of ''Meet the Barkers''. He's also played a few guest starring roles such as a rapper on the popular crime drama, ''[[CSI: Crime Scene Investigation]]'', and a voiceover for an episode of ''[[The Simpsons]]''. He's been a presenter for several award shows such as the [[Much Music]] Awards in 2002 and the [[MTV Video Music Awards]] in 2000. In 2001, he appeared with Tom Delonge and Mark Hoppus in the skit "Leave it to Blink-182", a parody of "[[Leave It to Beaver]]", on the late night TV show [[MADtv]]. <ref>[http://www.tv.com/madtv/episode-707/episode/185783/summary.html "MAD Tv: Episode #707"] [[TV|tv.com]]. In a slight departure from his usual genres, he made an appearance on the 41st annual [[Country Music Association Awards|CMA Awards]] in 2006, performing a medley of songs by country icon [[Buck Owens]] with a group of artists including [[Dwight Yoakam]], [[ZZ Top]] guitarist [[Billy Gibbons]], and former [[The Byrds|Byrds]] bass player [[Chris Hillman]].<ref>[http://today.reuters.com/news/newsArticle.aspx?type=entertainmentNews&storyID=2006-05-24T064909Z_01_N23217744_RTRUKOC_0_US-LEISURE-COUNTRY.xml "Chesney, Dixie Chicks in spotlight at award show"] [[Reuters|Reuters.com]]. deletion of user Ansakhad..I think there has been a misunderstanding. I didn't plan advertisement. I was told to write an article up for amendment to my username, which I did. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Requests_for_page_protection#.7B.7Bla.7CPakpassion.7D.7D

Perhaps I did it wrong, I'm unaware. I didn't know where else on my userspace I can put it.

Thank you. (ansakhad (talk) 17:24, 4 October 2008 (UTC))

replied Nancy talk 17:38, 4 October 2008 (UTC)
  • Please note that I did restore the revisions to User:Ansakhad's edit history, to enable Ansakhad to fix the article, but I forgot to include an explanation in the restore log. I have also advised Ansakhad to create a subpage in user space in which to work on the article there. --Metropolitan90 (talk) 18:11, 4 October 2008 (UTC)

Rocker85

Hi, I couldn't help but notice that you have deleted several of my contributions that I worked very hard to create, including several brand new pages that I had just made. Yes, I know these pages were short and lacked content, but you must know it takes time to write a long and informative page on wikipedia. I'm just trying to contribute and I don't know why I'm having such a hard time doing it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Rocker85 (talkcontribs) 17:28, 4 October 2008 (UTC)

I'm not sure that edits such as this back up your claim of "just trying to contribute" and neither do the three 'articles' which you created this afternoon which were, as you know were just made up nonsense - example "If Plato was a Christian this is what his philosophy would be called". QED. Nancy talk 17:38, 4 October 2008 (UTC)

飞天号航天服 & 飞天 deletion

Hi, you deleted 飞天号航天服 & 飞天

I think these qualify under {{R from another language}} since they are the original language names for the article in question (Feitian space suit), so are indeed likely search terms. If someone read an article and copypasted or typed in the original name, shouldn't they be able to reach the correct article? 70.51.8.75 (talk) 09:09, 5 October 2008 (UTC)

You used CSD reason R3

"Recently created redirects from implausible typos or misnomers. However, redirects from common misspellings or misnomers are generally useful, as are redirects in other languages."

This says "redirects in other languages are generally useful" 70.51.8.75 (talk) 09:13, 5 October 2008 (UTC)

Hi there, this is a difficult one & I can see both sides of the coin. I've tried to see if there is a consensus by looking through Category:Redirects from alternative languages but I'm still not sure. I have always read the "redirect from another language as being more related to things such as Kyiv (topical one that one - read the talk page! - but I digress), or Das Wohltemperirte Clavier rather than a literal transalation of every article's name in to other languages, particulary those with non-Latin character sets. Kind regards, Nancy talk 17:52, 6 October 2008 (UTC)
Well, there's the essay Wikipedia:Redirects for discussion/Redirects from foreign languages . 70.51.8.75 (talk) 06:21, 7 October 2008 (UTC)

Page Deletion

Nancy,

It appears you have deleted this page back in August, due to it being a Non-Noteable Student Club?

http://deletionpedia.dbatley.com/w/index.php?title=Loughborough_Students_Union_Gliding_Club_%28deleted_17_Aug_2008_at_18:07%29

I set up this page some years back to acurately reflect the history of this club, and after 2007 it was left to the Club to continue to update it. The Club is still a prominent club within the Loughborough Athletic Union. Can you please reverse the deletion?

Hi there Eltep. Yes, the article was deleted in August as it had been proposed for deletion due to lack of notability. I have just reviewed the text again and I have to say that I think that the original tagging and subsequent deletion were absolutely correct. Our notability guidelines say that if the club has received significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject, then it can be presumed to satisfy the inclusion criteria for a stand-alone article and I see no assertion of notability in the article and have been unable to find anything in the news archives either. Always:

I'm the terror of the seas
When traders see my topsails
They go trembly at the knees.
If they behave politely,
I politely take their ship.
Make them wish they hadn't
If they give me any lip.
I draw no unfair distinction
Rich or poor, short or lank,
But perfectly impartial
As I make them walk the plank.
I've a bo'sun plays the fiddle
As they walk it one by one.
And my brave boys line the bulwarks
To enjoy the harmless fun.

History merge

You recently performed a history merge on Matt Hazard and Eat Lead: The Return of Matt Hazard. These were separate articles on separate subjects with parallel editing histories and should have been handled with a regular merge and redirect. Merging the histories has resulted in versions of the two articles being interleaved, muddling the edit history. Pagrashtak 13:46, 9 October 2008 (UTC)

Yeah, if you have the time. Not difficult, just tedious. Pagrashtak 15:13, 9 October 2008 (UTC)
I'll take a look. Pagrashtak 15:25, 9 October 2008 (UTC)
I see an edit history on both articles—exactly what is the problem? Pagrashtak 15:28, 9 October 2008 (UTC)
It wasn't me. During these history merge operations, you often have to purge to pick up the change—it was probably a server cache issue. Pagrashtak 15:30, 9 October 2008 (UTC)

Speedy deletion

Nancy,

I got your name on the Administrators list - we have not met yet.

I tried to post a biographical article about a business executive named Norris Lozano this morning and it was speedily deleted.

The reason given was "advertising" - which gives me some guidance about how to fix it. I'd like the opportunity to edit the piece down and take out the editorializing and just stick with the facts. I think the subject of the bio is valid.

I don't know what happens here, what if I were to edit the piece down and re-submit it? I've searched the site, but it seems like there is no "second chance"(?) in cases like this.

Could you please give me some guidance about what I can do next?

Many thanks, Cesmith111urban (talk) 22:17, 9 October 2008 (UTC)

Hi there, sorry I wasn't around when you posted this message but I see from your talk page that the deleting admin has responded and is helping you out with a copy of the deleted article etc. Looks like they have given you pretty sound advice so good luck with the revised article and of course, don;t hesitate to drop by again if you need help with this or anything else.
