Monetate was an American software company founded in 2008 that provided multivariant testing and personalization software for online retailers.
History
Headquartered in Conshohocken, Pennsylvania with offices in Palo Alto and London, England, Monetate was founded in 2008 by David Brussin and David Bookspan.
In January, 2008, Monetate raised a $600,000 seed round from First Round Capital.[1]
In December, 2010 Monetate raised $5.1 million in Series A round funding, led by First Round Capital and FLOODGATE.[1]
In August, 2011, Monetate raised $15 million in Series B round funding, led by OpenView Venture Partners.[1]
In February, 2013 Monetate raised $17.3 million Series C round funding. In December, 2013, Monetate raised $8 million in Series C round funding from Common Fund, First Round Capital, FLOODGATE, Lead Edge Capital, and OpenView Venture Partners.[2]
In April, 2014, Bob Lawson became Monetate's Chief Financial Officer.[3] In July, 2014, Monetate had about 230 employees.[4] Lucinda Duncalfe was named CEO in August, 2014.[3]
In 2019, Monetate was acquired by Kibo, a cloud commerce provider wholly owned by Vista Equity Partners for an undisclosed sum.[5][6] As of 2021, the Monetate brand has been discontinued by Kibo. [7]
