Nachingwea is one of the 6 districts in the Lindi Region of Tanzania. It is bordered to the North by the Ruangwa District, to the East by the Lindi Rural District, to the Southeast by the Mtwara Region and to the Southwest by the Ruvuma Region.

According to the 2002 Tanzania National Census, the population of the Nachingwea District was 162,081.[1]

Nachingwea has a Hospital, a Teacher Training College, one Secondary School, four Primary Schools, a Nursery School and a Day Care Centre. It was one of the centers for the groundnut scheme in the 1950s and has an airstrip and an army barracks.

The Anglican Parish of St. Andrew is linked with St. Andrew's Church, Stapleford, Cambridgeshire in the United Kingdom.
