Suzy Cohen is a pharmacist, syndicated columnist, and author[1]. Her first book, The 24-Hour Pharmacist was published by HarperCollins and covers subjects including insomnia, snoring, heart disease, hormones, PMS, and beauty. Her columns and book offer natural remedies along with safety advice for those who take medications.

Background

Cohen attended the University of Florida and received a Bachelors of Science in Pharmacy in 1989. While commuting to school in Gainesville, she worked part-time at the Munroe Regional Medical Center. Upon graduation, Cohen began working in a retail setting as a clinical pharmacist and received additional training for a "Consultant Pharmacist" license in Florida.

After working for several years in a chain drug store, Cohen worked in skilled nursing facilities as a consultant pharmacist. Her duties included reviews of drug regimens for their residents. She was subsequently awarded the Practitioner Merit Award by the Academy of Pharmacy Practice by the Florida Pharmacy Association. Working in nursing homes led to her interest in preventative, rather than focused, disease treatment.

Newspaper column

Cohen's first column appeared in the Lake City Reporter in 1999. By 2001, Tribune Media Services in Chicago syndicated her health column and circulation has expanded to over 24 million potential readers each week. On occasion, "Dear Pharmacist" is printed in other languages overseas.
