Dragon Ball Z: Cooler's Revenge

In this movie, Frieza's brother Cooler is introduced. It begins with a flashback to when Frieza destroyed Planet Vegeta, and Cooler's ship picks up Goku's space pod escaping the system. Cooler lets it go, believing it to be no threat. Several decades later, Cooler discovers that his brother Frieza has been killed by a surviving Saiyan. Showing no compassion towards Frieza, Cooler takes his Armored Squadron after Goku to reclaim his family honor. His forces ambush Goku and his friends on a camping trip, and Goku is wounded.

After Krillin sets up camp with Goku, Gohan flies off to obtain Sensu Beans from Korin. After obtaining the Beans, he is ambushed by the Squadron, but is saved by Piccolo. Piccolo takes down two members of the Squadron, but Cooler attacks, sending the last one after Gohan as a shocked Piccolo falls. Gohan gets to the cave with the Beans, but they are destroyed by the final squadron member. However, he heals Goku with a spare bean. After Krillin and Gohan are defeated by the last Squadron member, Goku appears fully healed. Cooler shows up, and begins battling Goku.

After several minutes of the usual fight scene material, Cooler tells of his history with Frieza. He then reveals his final transformation, and pummels Gokua easily. However, as Cooler threatens to destroy the world, Goku channels his fury to become a Super Saiyan. Cooler finds himself, like Freeza was, laughably outmatched (a power level number of over 13 million to way over 20 million, it's a no-brainer there!), but summons the Trump Card move to destroy Earth. However, Goku sends it back with a Kamehameha Wave, sending Cooler into the sun. As Cooler curses Goku, he suddenly realizes that Goku is the Saiyan he let escape.

Goku, drained after his battle, is found by Krillin and Gohan. They are looking for Piccolo when the final Armored Squadron member reappears, and is about to destroy them. However, before he can attack, he is struck by a long distance blast launched by Piccolo. Gohan looks around for him, and the movie ends with Piccolo staring at the sun.

Out of Continuity

As with most of the DBZ movies, this one does not fit in with the timeline of the television show. The events in this movie supposedly take place between the Trunks (pre-Anroid) and Android saga, yet their uncanon fallible folley dictates that it takes place on earth features only the second time Goku becomes a Super Saiyan. However, in the continuity of the show, by the time Goku returned to earth after defeating Frieza and becoming a super saiyan for the first time, he had spent months in space and mastered the technique.
