Kongu Nadu is a region in the state of Tamil Nadu in Southern India. Kongu is derived from Ganga, the rulers who ruled the area as a sovereign state, and Nadu meaning country. Go to Gounder (caste) for more on Kongu history. It may also refer to a breed of cattle Kangeyam bull

'Kongu" means 'honey' in Tamil. availability of abundent honey in the region also leads to the name 'Kongu Nadu' meaning 'Country of Honey'.
