In addition, when atmospheric conditions are right, KTUL's signal can be picked up as far as Oklahoma City.

deletion of user Ansakhad..I think there has been a misunderstanding. I didn't plan advertisement. I was told to write an article up for amendment to my username, which I did. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Requests_for_page_protection#.7B.7Bla.7CPakpassion.7D.7D
Channel 8 signed on September 18, 1954 as KTVX, licensed to Muskogee. It was owned by Oklahoma grocery magnate and broadcast pioneer John Griffin, who also owned KTUL radio (1430 AM,later KELI, now KTBZ). The station had been licensed in Muskogee because the third VHF frequency originally allocated to Tulsa itself, channel 11, had been reserved for educational use. The Griffins thus decided to seek the channel 8 allocation in Muskogee, the nearest city in the Tulsa market with a VHF license. UHF was not considered viable at the time.

Perhaps I did it wrong, I'm unaware. I didn't know where else on my userspace I can put it.
It broadcast from a converted grocery store in Muskogee. It took the ABC affiliation from Tulsa's second television station, KCEB-TV (channel 23). The station's first broadcast was a football game between Oklahoma and California, which Oklahoma won. The first two personalities at the station were news anchor Jack Morris and meteorologist Don Woods. Sports director Hal O'Halloran would come later.

Thank you. (ansakhad (talk) 17:24, 4 October 2008 (UTC))
In 1955, KCEB sold its studios on Lookout Mountain to Griffin, and KTVX moved there in November; KTUL-AM had been there since April. The Lookout Mountain facility was used as an auxiliary studio until 1957, when the station won FCC permission to move all operations, as well as the station's license, to Tulsa. On September 12 1957--the day the move took effect--the station changed its calls to KTUL-TV to match its radio sister.

In 1965, KTUL built a new 1,909-foot (582-meter) tower--the second-tallest transmitting tower in the country at the time. Combined with a heavy emphasis on local programming, KTUL soon became one of the strongest ABC affiliates in the country, and the top-rated station in Tulsa for many years.
*Please note that I did restore the revisions to User:Ansakhad's edit history, to enable Ansakhad to fix the article, but I forgot to include an explanation in the restore log. I have also advised Ansakhad to create a subpage in user space in which to work on the article there. --Metropolitan90 (talk) 18:11, 4 October 2008 (UTC)

Griffin sold KTUL-AM-TV and sister station KATV in Little Rock, Arkansas to his brother-in-law, James C. "Jimmy" Leake, in the early 1970s; Griffin retained control of KWTV in Oklahoma City. The two had shared ownership of the stations for many years. Leake sold off the radio station a few years later, but kept channel 8 until selling it to current owner Allbritton in 1982.
Hi, I couldn't help but notice that you have deleted several of my contributions that I worked very hard to create, including several brand new pages that I had just made. Yes, I know these pages were short and lacked content, but you must know it takes time to write a long and informative page on wikipedia. I'm just trying to contribute and I don't know why I'm having such a hard time doing it. <small><span class="autosigned">—Preceding unsigned comment added by Rocker85 (talk • contribs) 17:28, 4 October 2008 (UTC)</span></small><!-- Template:Unsigned --> <!--Autosigned by SineBot-->
:I'm not sure that edits such as this back up your claim of "just trying to contribute" and neither do the three 'articles' which you created this afternoon which were, as you know were just made up nonsense - example "If Plato was a Christian this is what his philosophy would be called". == 飞天号航天服 & 飞天 deletion ==
In 1987, KTUL's broadcast tower was knocked over by an ice storm, and a new one was constructed in 1988. In 1999, KTUL built new broadcast facilities on Lookout Mountain to accommodate station growth.

Hi,
In 2004, Channel 8 premiered "Good Day Tulsa", a live, locally produced hour long program mainly focusing on local businesses, events and entertainment. The original hosts of the program were D.C. Roberts and Keith Taylor, with Mike Collier doing weather and Kristen Dickerson doing live, on-location reports. D.C. Roberts left "Good Day Tulsa" and KTUL on August 18, 2008. Kristen Dickerson has taken over as co-host. "Good Day Tulsa" is the only locally produced program at 9AM in the Tulsa market.
you deleted 飞天号航天服 & 飞天

I think these qualify under R from another language since they are the original language names for the article in question (Feitian space suit), so are indeed likely search terms. If someone read an article and copypasted or typed in the original name, shouldn't they be able to reach the correct article? In 2005, KTUL introduced First Alert Weather 24/7, a digital/cable channel devoted to 24-hour-a-day weather information. It is available over the air on KTUL's digital subchannel 8.2 and on Cox Cable on channel 247.

Don Woods and Gusty
:"Recently created redirects from implausible typos or misnomers. However, redirects from common misspellings or misnomers are generally useful, as are redirects in other languages."
When KTUL signed on as KTVX in Muskogee, the station was looking for a weatherman who could draw a cartoon character. Don Woods was chosen, and his cartoon character became Gusty. From 1954 until his retirement in 1989, Woods drew Gusty live on TV, and every day, people sent in requests for a Gusty. Gusty always told what the weather was going to be like. He could be drawn waving flags and smiling for fair weather, or he could be drawn holding an umbrella for rainy days, or jumping in his fraidy hole for thunderstorms. After Woods' retirement from KTUL in 1989, Woods continued to draw Gusty from time to time, and he even authored a book entitled The Gospel According to Gusty. In 2005, Gusty was made Oklahoma's State Cartoon Character by the Oklahoma Legislature, and there's even a drawing of Gusty at the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, D.C.
This says "redirects in other languages are generally useful"

:Hi there, this is a difficult one & I can see both sides of the coin. I've tried to see if there is a consensus by looking through :Category:Redirects from alternative languages but I'm still not sure. I have always read the "redirect from another language as being more related to things such as Kyiv (topical one that one - read the talk page! - but I digress), or Das Wohltemperirte Clavier rather than a literal transalation of every article's name in to other languages, particulary those with non-Latin character sets. This is why I feel that the two (Mandarin?) words/phrases you have mentioned equally fall in to the territory of unlikely/implausible phrases for a person to type on the English language Wikipedia. But the bottom line is that I am one admin & one opinion (which is a valid opinion but equally is far from unchallengable). The redirects were speedily deleted so as there was no deletion discussion there is no community consensus for their deletion which means that you are free to recreate. If they are renominated for deletion I will recuse myself from the process and we'll see what others think. Sound OK to you? Kind regards, <span style="font-family:Segoe Script;color:#FF6600;font-size:14px">Nancy</span><span style="font-family:Segoe Script;font-size:14px"> talk</span> 17:52, 6 October 2008 (UTC)
::Well, there's the essay Wikipedia:Redirects for discussion/Redirects from foreign languages . The article's name is a phonetic and literal translation of the actual name. (ie. It's a chinese spacesuit, the actual name is in chinese, not English). From the bit about non-Latin characters, doesn't that indicate bias, since English is used in Hong Kong as an official language, where Chinese characters are prevalent, or India, where non-Latin script is common and English is widely used. But we already use a lot of implausible names that people would type for actual article names (all the non-ASCII ones, and particularly, the widespread use of eszett, a non-English, non-Roman character, that is very likely to be interpretted as a "B" or beta). ==Waiting Child==
Since 1980, KTUL has featured its Waiting Child segment, which highlights children who are in state custody and looking for an adoptive family. Then-anchor Bob Hower began Waiting Child in October 1980, and did the segment until his retirement in 1986. Former anchor Rea Blakey and then sports director John Walls followed in Hower's footsteps. Anchor Carole Lambert has hosted the segment since 1990, and it has resulted in more than 4000 children being adopted. The segment airs Wednesdays at 4:00 and Saturdays at 10:00.

Nancy,
The song "(I'm a) Waiting Child," which plays during the Waiting Child news segment, was composed by former anchor Bob Hower and is sung by Oleta Adams.

KTUL, for many years the perennial leader in the Tulsa television market, currently ranks second overall in news viewership, with its late newscast (10:00pm) placing third behind KOTV and KOKI, and ahead of KJRH. The station also ranks second in primetime viewership as of November 2007. ==Programming==
KTUL clears the entire ABC network schedule and airs almost all ABC programs in their network-recommended timeslots, however Nightline airs an hour later than on most ABC stations because of an hour-long block of sitcoms airing after the 10PM newscast, and the Sunday edition of ABC's World News airs a half-hour later than most stations. From its 2003 debut until 2005, KTUL preempted the talk show Jimmy Kimmel Live, which ended up airing on KQCW (then WB affiliate KWBT). Jimmy Kimmel Live has since moved to KTUL and airs immediately after Nightline.

I set up this page some years back to acurately reflect the history of this club, and after 2007 it was left to the Club to continue to update it. The Club is still a prominent club within the Loughborough Athletic Union. Can you please reverse the deletion?
Current syndicated programming includes Deal or No Deal, The Bonnie Hunt Show, Rachel Ray (formerly seen on KOKI), Two and a Half Men, According to Jim, Frasier, The Andy Griffith Show, with Regenesis and Monk on weekends. KTUL airs a few more sitcoms than most ABC, CBS or NBC stations usually do. KTUL was previously the Tulsa home for Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy! from the early 1980s until 2005, when both shows moved to NBC affiliate KJRH. KTUL produces a local sports call-in show called "You Make the Call", airing Sundays after the 10PM newscast, featuring sports-related questions and comments by viewers in the Green Country area.

:Hi there Eltep. Yes, the article was deleted in August as it had been proposed for deletion due to lack of notability. Our notability guidelines say that if the club has received significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject, then it can be presumed to satisfy the inclusion criteria for a stand-alone article and I see no assertion of notability in the article and have been unable to find anything in the news archives either. You mention above that the club is "prominent within the Loughborough Athletic Union" which I have no doubt is true however for inclusion in Wikipedia it needs to be notable in a wider context and for this reason I am unwilling to restore the page. You recently performed a history merge on Matt Hazard and Eat Lead: The Return of Matt Hazard. These were separate articles on separate subjects with parallel editing histories and should have been handled with a regular merge and redirect. Merging the histories has resulted in versions of the two articles being interleaved, muddling the edit history. The reason given was "advertising" - which gives me some guidance about how to fix it. I'd like the opportunity to edit the piece down and take out the editorializing and just stick with the facts. I think the subject of the bio is valid.
Trivia
*In 1996, meteorologist Frank Mitchell made a surprise wedding proposal to his co-host, Teri Bowers during a live broadcast of "Good Morning Oklahoma". The proposal made national news and was featured on programs such as American Journal, Geraldo and Maury.
*The current studios on Lookout Mountain were built for television station KCEB. Former owner James C. Leake moved the KTVX operation to Tulsa from Muskogee.

I don't know what happens here, what if I were to edit the piece down and re-submit it? I've searched the site, but it seems like there is no "second chance"(?) in cases like this.

deletion of user Ansakhad..I think there has been a misunderstanding. I didn't plan advertisement. I was told to write an article up for amendment to my username, which I did. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Requests_for_page_protection#.7B.7Bla.7CPakpassion.7D.7D

Perhaps I did it wrong, I'm unaware. I didn't know where else on my userspace I can put it.

Thank you. (ansakhad (talk) 17:24, 4 October 2008 (UTC))

 • Please note that I did restore the revisions to User:Ansakhad's edit history, to enable Ansakhad to fix the article, but I forgot to include an explanation in the restore log. I have also advised Ansakhad to create a subpage in user space in which to work on the article there. --Metropolitan90 (talk) 18:11, 4 October 2008 (UTC)

Rocker85

Hi, I couldn't help but notice that you have deleted several of my contributions that I worked very hard to create, including several brand new pages that I had just made. Yes, I know these pages were short and lacked content, but you must know it takes time to write a long and informative page on wikipedia. I'm just trying to contribute and I don't know why I'm having such a hard time doing it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Rocker85 (talkcontribs) 17:28, 4 October 2008 (UTC)

I'm not sure that edits such as this back up your claim of "just trying to contribute" and neither do the three 'articles' which you created this afternoon which were, as you know were just made up nonsense - example "If Plato was a Christian this is what his philosophy would be called". 飞天号航天服 & 飞天 deletion

Hi, you deleted 飞天号航天服 & 飞天

I think these qualify under R from another language since they are the original language names for the article in question (Feitian space suit), so are indeed likely search terms. If someone read an article and copypasted or typed in the original name, shouldn't they be able to reach the correct article? 70.51.8.75 (talk) 09:09, 5 October 2008 (UTC)

You used CSD reason R3

"Recently created redirects from implausible typos or misnomers. However, redirects from common misspellings or misnomers are generally useful, as are redirects in other languages."

This says "redirects in other languages are generally useful" 70.51.8.75 (talk) 09:13, 5 October 2008 (UTC)

Hi there, this is a difficult one & I can see both sides of the coin. I've tried to see if there is a consensus by looking through Category:Redirects from alternative languages but I'm still not sure. Kind regards, Nancy talk 17:52, 6 October 2008 (UTC)
Well, there's the essay Wikipedia:Redirects for discussion/Redirects from foreign languages . 70.51.8.75 (talk) 06:21, 7 October 2008 (UTC)

Page Deletion

Nancy,

It appears you have deleted this page back in August, due to it being a Non-Noteable Student Club?

http://deletionpedia.dbatley.com/w/index.php?title=Loughborough_Students_Union_Gliding_Club_%28deleted_17_Aug_2008_at_18:07%29

I set up this page some years back to acurately reflect the history of this club, and after 2007 it was left to the Club to continue to update it. The Club is still a prominent club within the Loughborough Athletic Union. Can you please reverse the deletion?

ELTEP. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Eltep (talkcontribs) 13:28, 9 October 2008 (UTC)

Hi there Eltep. Yes, the article was deleted in August as it had been proposed for deletion due to lack of notability. I have just reviewed the text again and I have to say that I think that the original tagging and subsequent deletion were absolutely correct. I would normally offer to copy the content to your userspace but I guess you don't need it as you have full access to it as deletionpedia already. Make them wish they hadn't
If they give me any lip.
I draw no unfair distinction
Rich or poor, short or lank,
But perfectly impartial
As I make them walk the plank.
I've a bo'sun plays the fiddle
As they walk it one by one.
And my brave boys line the bulwarks
To enjoy the harmless fun.

History merge

You recently performed a history merge on Matt Hazard and Eat Lead: The Return of Matt Hazard. These were separate articles on separate subjects with parallel editing histories and should have been handled with a regular merge and redirect. Merging the histories has resulted in versions of the two articles being interleaved, muddling the edit history. Pagrashtak 13:46, 9 October 2008 (UTC)

Yeah, if you have the time. Not difficult, just tedious. Pagrashtak 15:13, 9 October 2008 (UTC)
I'll take a look. Pagrashtak 15:25, 9 October 2008 (UTC)
I see an edit history on both articles—exactly what is the problem? Pagrashtak 15:28, 9 October 2008 (UTC)
It wasn't me. During these history merge operations, you often have to purge to pick up the change—it was probably a server cache issue. Pagrashtak 15:30, 9 October 2008 (UTC)
