These have been generated from the downloads not by botting the actual site since we are ultra-compliant (even flagging intention to do so on copyright page for a month before we started)!!! However they are imperfect: let me know if you see any bugs. They both are entirely clear what they are and where they came from. I posted an intention to do this on the copyright page for a month before we did it and got no objections. I will put the details up somewhere public when I've found somewhere suitable to post them (I am still after a good map for wikipedia). However, it does enable me to say, for example, that I wrote the [http://fixedreference.org/simple/20040501/wikipedia/Mathematics Maths] intro without worrying if it is still there.

It is intended to leave those versions there permanently intact for reference (only change is that any dodgy pages will be taken out please alert me on my talk pages here), and add new saved versions to them every couple of months.

Welcome

Please put messages for me here! I am rather tidy so I will delete once received unless there is a reason not to (such as interest to others)--BozMo 10:30, 29 Apr 2004 (UTC)

Comments on my site: Cates, my book: letter to Peter, or the charity I now work for children's charity would be particularly welcome.

I will visit here most days but have a busy job and young kids so not always. My other email is my christian name @ my homepage. --BozMo 08:41, 10 May 2004 (UTC)[reply]

Page layout years

This discussion has been referred to Wikipedia:WikiProject_Years near the bottom of the page there. Whilst it runs I will not be changing actual year pages. --BozMo 17:44, 11 May 2004 (UTC)[reply]

Fixed Locked copies

I am one of those involved in the fixed (locked) "snapshots" of WikiPedia main encyclopedia posted at fixed reference. We are planning to put up a May 2004 copy of the simple version at Simple WikiPedia and a April 2004 copy of the full en at WikiPedia. First test is without pictures I am afraid.

However, it does enable me to say, for example, that I wrote the simple Maths intro without worrying if it is still there, and that I think it is better than the main en Maths version

It is intended to leave those versions there permanently intact for reference (only change is that any dodgy pages will be taken out please alert me on my talk pages here), and add new saved versions to them every couple of months.

I hope people will find these copies useful. At present besides the Pedia always being down or very slow, it is extremely difficult for those interested in studying the evolution of WikiPedia to get working (locked) copy at past dates. Is WikiPedia converging or falling apart? The fixed copies will also allow reference to versions of articles with certainty they have not changed.

The pages probably don't quite work perfectly. Please also tell me here of any bugs. --BozMo 09:00, 13 May 2004 (UTC)[reply]
