Neezhoor is a small village in Kottayam district, Kerala, South India.

Neezhoor is situated at the northern end of kottayam (30 km).Distance to cochin is only 55 km. The nearest railhead is velloor Railway Station (12 km). Even though it’s a remote village in Kerala, its having 98% Literacy, Good Educational institutions, cellular phone coverage, Telephone exchange, internet facilities, good transportation systems, irrigation systems etc. Neezhoor panchyat has been awarded two time "The best panchyat in Kottayam district".

Geography

Geographically, Kerala can be divided into three climatically distinct regions: the eastern highlands (rugged and cool mountainous terrain), the central midlands (rolling hills), and the western lowlands (coastal plains).Neezhoor comes under the central midlands. Some of the areas of neezhoor is included under western ghats

Climate

With 120–140 rainy days per year, Neezhoor has a wet and maritime tropical climate influenced by the seasonal heavy rains of the Southwest Summer Monsoon.. Neezhoors rainfall averages 3,107 mm annually; Mean annual temperatures range from 18.0–35.0 °C .Through out the year it is having a cool pleasant climate.

Agriculture

The main agriculture is rubber tree cultivation. Other than rubber, rice is cultivated. But most of the paddy fields are now transformed into lands for construction works. Tapioca, cloves,nutmeg, pepper,bitterguard, cucumber,ginger, etc are widely cultivated. Coconut tree is also widely grown.

Education

Educational institutions-

After Degree or HSE, students move to other places in kerala or Metros in India or Abroad for higher education.

Peoples

98% of the peoples are educated. Only a few numbers of young peoples is diverted to agriculture. Most of the peoples are employed in Arab countries, US, UK & Australia. Most of the peoples come under middle class. The Peoples are, majority Hindu and Syrian Catholics. Social respect can be seen among the peoples.

Hopes of neezhoor.

Neezhoor is having a history of losing several projects from the state government like-
M.G. University, Medical College, Government Engineering College, State Highway etc
Now the peoples are looking forward the approval of Airport highway, Express highway etc.which possibly boost the economy of neezhoor.
