Council

It matters not where the council website lists them. The council website is not does not decide where the districts are listed. Please look at other councils in the United States here. They all list their at-large districts at the bottom. And as will Indianapolis'. Just as a future reference, your councilor posistion makes no difference on wikipedia, everyone who edits wikipedia is of equal significance. I have again fixed the table. HoosierStateTalk 03:31, 6 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Not only is Hoosier 100% right on this subject, but a few things trouble me about your posts to him:

1) If you're on the County Council, you should not be editing anything related to the council. It's considered bad manners.

2) The statement, "That or we will be changing it on a daily basis," is a threat of edit warring, which Wikipedia has a very large problem with.

3) I hope you don't work on the Council with the same attitude as you demonstrated to HoosierState.

Moral of the story, the list will keep the same format as every other list on Wikipedia of the same nature, and if you don't believe HS and myself, I'm sure we can drag an admin in here to tell you the same thing. -- JTHolla! 17:46, 6 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

  • I realize the website lists at-large districts first. However for consistency and wikipedia standards for this kinda of page I feel the table should remain the same. I encourage you to continue to make edits on wikipedia but before continually making certain changes it's best to discuss it among other editors. HoosierStateTalk 22:19, 6 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Its not completely about how I feel. Please feel free to look at other here|City-Council pages]], they list with at-large at bottom as well. It's about consistency and the Wikipedia Standard. I feel this discussion is over as nothing more can be said for either argument. The table needs to stay as is. HoosierStateTalk 22:46, 6 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • We thank you for your recognition of our efforts, Ecoleman56, and invite you to join the WikiProject Indianapolis! However, like HoosierState has already expressed, regardless of how the city recognizes At-Large counselors on its web sites, the Wikipedia standard must be adhered to. -- JTHolla! 22:53, 6 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • No in fact you can have 3 reverts in 24 but no more. I have exactly 3 reverts. You however have broken that. HoosierStateTalk 22:55, 6 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Blocked

You have been blocked from editing for a period of 24 hours in accordance with Wikipedia's blocking policy for violating the three-revert rule at Indianapolis City-County Council. Please be more careful to discuss controversial changes or seek dispute resolution rather than engaging in an edit war. If you believe this block is unjustified, you may contest the block by adding the text {{unblock|your reason here}} below.

This user is asking that their block be reviewed:

Request reason:

your reason here

Notes:

  • In some cases, you may not in fact be blocked, or your block has already expired. Please check the list of active blocks. If no block is listed, then you have been autoblocked by the automated anti-vandalism systems. Please remove this request and follow these instructions instead for quick attention by an administrator.
  • Please read our guide to appealing blocks to make sure that your unblock request will help your case. You may change your request at any time.
Administrator use only:

If you ask the blocking administrator to comment on this request, replace this template with the following, replacing "blocking administrator" with the name of the blocking admin:

{{Unblock on hold |1=blocking administrator |2=your reason here |3 = ~~~~}}

If you decline the unblock request, replace this template with the following code, substituting {{subst:Decline reason here}} with a specific rationale. Leaving the decline reason unchanged will result in display of a default reason, explaining why the request was declined.

{{unblock reviewed |1=your reason here |decline = {{subst:Decline reason here}} ~~~~}}

If you accept the unblock request, replace this template with the following, substituting Accept reason here with your rationale:

{{unblock reviewed |1=your reason here |accept = accept reason here ~~~~}}

I have tried to discuss with them that Indianapolis lists the At-Large councillors first in all lists. I know this because I am one of the elected councillors on the list. They feel they have the ownership of the page and keep changing it after I corrected it. They feel they have the right to do as they please and because they have more people they can revert it until I violate. As an elected representative of Indianapolis I feel I have the right to make the page accurate. I have not changed the content, just the order in which it is laid out for accuracy. They do not own the page and will not acknowledge their innaccuracy. Now they have you blocking me. They seem to know the system and the administrators well enough to have their way. However, their corrections are incorrect and I feel the page should be corrected and protected from being changed again.

I am sorry that you are blocked. I am looking into the matter. I am sorry to hear that an elected government official has been blocked. Archtransit (talk) 23:25, 6 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You should be more sorry that an elected government official has done something to deserve being blocked.
Again, Wikipedia is not any other website. Just because an Indianapolis website lists something one way does not mean that is the way it is to be listed over the entire internet. Wikipedia has its own standards, and they should be followed.
I suspect that the reason EColeman56 desires the at-large councilors to be listed first is because he is an at-large councilor. -- JTHolla! 23:27, 6 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
And it would make him the first person listed in the table, makes you think doesn't it? HoosierStateTalk 23:32, 6 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
In no way have I or JT assumed ownership of the article. It's called following wikipedia guidelines. As JT has already mentioned, just because the Council website has At-Large districts first does not mean Wikipedia must too. That is why I pointed out fellow City Council pages on wikipedia and how they have it listed. HoosierStateTalk 23:32, 6 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome

We should always respect government officials because it is in the interest of Wikipedia. Having a contentious relationship is not helpful.

Ecoleman56, Wikipedia has anonymous volunteer administrators who act independently and not under direct day-to-day control by Wikipedia. Therefore, the level of courtesy can vary among administrators.

I would be happy to give you advice on making editorial contributions (edits) to Wikipedia. There is a certain culture that is not always clear to new users. For example, unblocking often requires consultation with the administrator who originally blocked. This is different from the Indiana courts were appeals are never heard by the same Circuit Court judge who presided over the original case.

Your block will be over tomorrow. Archtransit (talk) 23:38, 6 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
