The Wolfson Foundation is a charitable foundation based in London, set up in 1955. Grants are made to registered charities in the UK (or organisations with charitable status.)
Overview
The Foundation supports projects across the fields of science and technology, medical research and health, education and the arts, currently allocating some £35 million per annum.
The Foundation was established by and named after Sir Isaac Wolfson, Chairman of Great Universal Stores (GUS) and his son Lord Wolfson, the current Chairman and a founder trustee.
A brief history of the Foundation was published for its 50th anniversary[1].
