The Egyptian-Swiss relations developed since the opening of a commercial agency of Switzerland in Egypt in 1909.

Diplomatic relations

In the Treaty of Lausanne which renounced Turkey in 1923 in Lausanne on all rights to Egypt. In 1924, Switzerland recognized Egypt's independence.

Thanks to Switzerland's neutrality , it represented the interests of several states in Egypt as a protective power during the Second World War , including those of Italy , Bulgaria and Romania . She later represented the interests of France (1956–1963), Belgium (1961–1964), Turkey (1961–1963), Great Britain (1956–1959) and New Zealand (1956–1959).

Conversely, she represented Egypt's interests in Romania, Bulgaria, Finland and Japan during World War II . Switzerland has been representing Iran's interests in Egypt since 1979 .

Economic relationships

The total trading volume in 2016 was just under 1.3 billion Swiss francs .
