The Äussere Aarbergertor (or also the outer Golatenmatttor) was a city gate in Bern . It was located between the signal box and Speichergasse .

The first outer Aarbergertor was not included in the original plan, but was built by Daniel Heintz at the same time as the city's fifth fortification belt between 1624 and 1627. It was canceled in 1823/24. In 1826 the 2nd outer Aarbergertor, a late Classicist building with a lattice gate and guard houses, was built according to plans by Johann Daniel Osterrieth . In 1889 the grille was removed when the road was lowered. In 1893 the eastern gatehouse was demolished. The western gatehouse was expanded in 1905 to accommodate the Swiss School Museum. The Abart bears were erected here from 1881 to 1893. In 1961 it was canceled.
