The Åland Document was signed in the Lagting (Landtag of Åland) in Mariehamn .

The Ålandsdokumentet ( Swedish Ålandsdokumentet ) is a decision of the Nordic Council of September 5, 2007, which enables the autonomous regions of Faroe Islands , Greenland (both to Denmark ) and Åland (to Finland ) to be members of the Nordic Council.

Among other things, these countries can use it to lead the meetings of the Nordic Council of Ministers and the working groups and bodies of the Nordic community. The autonomous areas are also given the power to receive and respond to recommendations independently, as well as to submit their own suggestions.
