Åshammars IK is a Swedish football club from Åshammar . The competition team played one season in the country's second-highest division in the late 1960s .
history
Founded in April 1922, Åshammars IK first played in the lower league area. The team had established itself in the fourth division in the 1950s, and at the beginning of the following decade it was repeatedly in the promotion race to the third division. In 1964 she won the relay in Division 4 Gästrikland and - after two seasons in the front midfield - rose three years later to the second division. In the Svealand season, however, the newcomer had no chance. After two wins this season, he rose as a knocked-down bottom of the table accompanied by IF Karlskoga / Bofors and Västerås SK at the end of the 1968 season.
Only two years later, Åshammars IK slipped back to fourth division as the bottom of the table in his third division season. The following years were marked by the change between the game classes. After the ascent in 1972, the descent followed two years later, which was followed by the direct ascent. In the third division, the club then held two seasons, only to be promoted again directly after relegation. This time the team missed relegation straight away and played fourth class in the following years. With the descent into the fifth division in 1985, the club said goodbye to higher-class football.
