from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Óengus Ollom ( New Irish Aongus Ollamh , German  "Óengus, the scholar" ) was an Irish high king according to medieval Irish legends . Óengus Ollom was the son of Ailill and grandson of Labraid Loingsech . He gained power after killing his predecessor, Mug Corb , and ruled for 18 years until he was killed by Irereo , son of Meilge Molbthach . According to the Lebor Gabála Érenn , his reign fell at the same time as that of Ptolemy III. (246-222 BC). Geoffrey Keating's chronicle Foras feasa ar Éirinn dates his reign to the period from 355–337 BC. The annals of the four masters give a reign of 499-481 BC. Chr.
