Public business administration

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Public business administration ( ÖBWL ) or business administration in public administration ( abbreviated as BWL öV ) is a form of special business administration . The ÖBWL relates the context of general business administration to the special requirements and needs of public administrations and companies . From an institutional point of view, a distinction is made between the business administration of public administrations, the business administration of public companies and the business administration of non-profit organizations . In the older literature, one speaks in this context of administrative management. In public service training courses, one also speaks of administrative business administration. For example, “administrative business administration” is an examination subject in the final examination for an administrative clerk or graduate in administrative management (FH) .

In recent literature and at universities , the terms public management and nonprofit management are becoming increasingly established . The subjects of public business administration, administrative management or public governance are mostly found at administrative colleges , where the offspring of civil servants of the higher service or the 3rd qualification level are trained. The ÖBWL has also been represented at several universities since the 1980s . For example at the universities of Hamburg, Konstanz, Mannheim and Potsdam. At the end of the 1990s, professorships with this focus were also set up at general universities of applied sciences. In some cases, the course is also offered as an administrative business administration. There are also master’s courses in public management or public administration.
