Eco tunnel

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

An eco tunnel is a passage (“ eco passage ”) through the dam or the dam wall of a flood retention basin , so that in addition to the main function of a water passage, the body of water is ecologically accessible for fish, animals and microorganisms. There are various design options for this. Among other things, the sole is designed to be close to nature and a bank mountain is created. Sufficient protection in the event of a flood is not possible due to the high level of pollution with these construction methods. Therefore, the ecological tunnel is usually closed during floods to prevent the bottom from washing away.
