Austrian-Polish mathematics competition

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Austrian-Polish Mathematics Competition (ÖPMW) was a mathematics competition between participants in the Mathematics Olympiad from Austria and Poland. It has taken place annually since 1978 and was held alternately in Austria and Poland. In Austria, the participants were allowed to take part, who finished 7th to 12th in the national competition of the Austrian Mathematical Olympiad (ÖMO) (i.e. placed behind the participants of the International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO)).

The competition consisted of two 4.5-hour individual competitions (each consisting of three tasks) and a 4-hour group competition in which the Austrian team competed against the Polish team to solve 3 tasks.

In 2007 this competition was dissolved. Instead there is now the Central European Mathematical Olympiad (MEMO).
