The Austrian Civil Service Insurance (ÖBV) - is a mutual insurance association . The ÖBV has insured the employees of the public sector since its foundation, but also all others from the non-public area can use the offers of the ÖBV. As a mutual insurance association (VVaG), ÖBV is committed to a principle of solidarity and exclusively pursues the interests of its members.

history

The ÖBV was founded in 1895 as part of a pre-trade union representation as a support association for civil servants to insure funeral payments. Even then, officials from the financial administration, the post office, the police and the judiciary were active in the association - professional groups that are still the most important clientele of the ÖBV today. In the post-war period, cooperation intensified with the public service unions, the post and telegraph employees and railway workers, which were still being established.

ÖBV is an independent Austrian insurance company. The legal form of the ÖBV ensures a long-term, community-oriented corporate policy that is independent of shareholders' interests. The alignment of customer and owner interests enables the ÖBV to operate sustainably.

The ÖBV product range includes life and accident insurance as well as pension and future provision. Its subsidiary ÖBV Selekt primarily mediates in the areas of health, legal protection, liability insurance and the entire property insurance sector. For civil servants and contract employees in the public sector, ÖBV Selekt arranges special products such as special official and organ liability insurance. In addition, the ÖBV accident insurance offers - at no additional cost - insurance protection in the event of a job-related increased accident risk. This applies to professional soldiers and police officers, the demining and disarming service, employees of the vida trade union from the transport sector, health, healing and care professions and social services.

ÖBV works closely with unions, employee representatives and works councils in the public sector in Austria. You make important decisions in the supervisory board and in the general assembly.

There are regional offices and offices in all federal states.

The ÖBV is not the same as the “ Versicherungsanstalt deutscher Arbeitsiensteter ”, the Austrian compulsory insurance for public employees.
