Gilbert Schaller (born March 17, 1969 in Bruck an der Mur ) is a former Austrian tennis player .

Career

Schaller's most successful year was 1995. He won the individual tournament in Casablanca . His following win against Pete Sampras in the first round of the French Open also caused a stir, but then lost to Australian Scott Draper in the second round . In the same year, he reached 17th place, his highest world ranking position . In terms of world ranking, Schaller is the fourth most successful Austrian tennis player behind Thomas Muster , Dominic Thiem and Jürgen Melzer .

From 2007 to 2011, Schaller was the captain of the Austrian Davis Cup team and ÖTV sports director. He is currently the trainer of Marin Draganja .
