The Valencia ATP Tournament (officially Valencia Open ) was a tennis tournament that was held from 1995 to 2015 in Valencia , Spain , as part of the ATP World Tour . However, it changed venue several times over the years; so it was held in 1996 for two years in Marbella . From 1998 to 2002 the tournament took place on Mallorca until it moved back to Valencia in 2003. Until 2008, it was played on clay courts in the spring; In 2009, the tournament then swapped dates and surfaces with the Madrid Masters, and until 2015, indoor hard courts were played in autumn. The tournament was also upgraded: the prize money was increased and the competition was now part of the ATP World Tour 500 , before it was downgraded to the ATP World Tour 250 again in 2015 . In the same year, the last edition of the tournament took place, which is no longer played in favor of the tournament in Antwerp . The game was played in the specially built L'Àgora in the Ciudad de las Artes y de las Ciencias in Valencia.

The tournament was also of organizational interest as it was hosted by an active and a former player, David Ferrer and Juan Carlos Ferrero . Both were co-owners of the tournament rights with a 25% share.

David Ferrer has won his home tournament three times. This makes him the most successful player in Valencia to date. Ferrer won the tournament on both clay and hard courts.
