The Valencia Open 500 2009 was a tennis tournament that took place from October 31 to November 8, 2009 in Valencia . It was part of the ATP World Tour 2009 and was played indoors on a hard court. In the same week was in Basel , the Davidoff Swiss Indoors Basel played that just like the Valencia Open to category ATP World Tour 500 counted. In 2009 the tournament in Valencia was part of this category for the first time.

Defending champion in the individual was David Ferrer , who did not play for the round of 16 against Albert Montañés due to injury . The tournament was won by the top seeded Andy Murray , who defeated the Russian Michail Juschny 6: 3, 6: 2 in the final. This was his sixth title of the season, with which he set a new personal record for the number of titles won in one year. In doubles, Máximo González and Juan Mónaco won the title last year , but they did not appear together to defend their title. While González did not appear, Mónaco was eliminated in the quarterfinals. This year's doubles competition was won by number three seeded František Čermák and Michal Mertiňák , who beat Marcel Granollers and Tommy Robredo 6: 4, 6: 3 in the final .

The field of participants in the individual competition consisted of 32 players, that of the doubles competition consisted of 16 pairs. The total prize money was 1,357,000 euros, the total financial liabilities were 2,019,000 euros.

The qualification took place from October 31 to November 1, 2009. Four qualifying places were played, which entitle them to participate in the main draw of the tournament.
