The Catella Swedish Open 2009 was a tennis tournament that took place from July 13th to 19th, 2009 in Båstad . It was part of the ATP World Tour 2009 and was played outdoors on a clay court. In the same week, the Mercedes Cup was played in Stuttgart , which, like the Catella Swedish Open, was part of the ATP World Tour 250 category .

Defending champion in the singles was the three seeded Tommy Robredo , who was eliminated in the semifinals against Juan Mónaco this year . This in turn was defeated in the final by the second seeding list and local hero Robin Söderling in two sets with 6: 3, 7: 6 4 . For Söderling it was the first title this year (his fourth overall) after losing to the Swiss Roger Federer in the final at this year's French Open . In doubles, Jonas Björkman and Söderling no longer competed together to defend their title. While Björkman did not even take part in the tournament, Söderling and his partner Robert Lindstedt made it to the final. There they lost to the duo Jaroslav Levinský and Filip Polášek in three sets with 6: 1, 6: 3, [10: 7].

The field of participants in the single competition consisted of 28 players, that of the doubles competition consisted of 16 pairs. The four top seeded players in the singles each got a bye into the second round. The total prize money was 398,250 euros; the total financial liabilities were 450,000 euros.
