Last year's winner in the individual was Igor Kunizyn , who failed in the first round this year. In the final, Russian Michail Juschny , who was seeded three, won against seed list sixth Janko Tipsarević 6: 7, 5 , 6: 0, 6: 4 and thus won his fifth career title. Serhij Stachowskyj and Potito Starace did not defend their title in doubles . The final was won by Pablo Cuevas and Marcel Granollers , who were seeded three. They prevailed against František Čermák and Michal Mertiňák , who started the tournament on one, with 4: 6, 7: 5, [10: 8].
The field of participants in the individual competition consisted of 32 players, that of the doubles competition consisted of 16 pairs. The total prize pool was $ 1,000,000 and total financial liabilities were $ 1,080,500.
The qualification took place from October 17th to 19th, 2009. Four qualifying places were played, which entitle them to participate in the main draw of the tournament.
The following prize money and world ranking points were paid out or credited for reaching the respective round. Players who moved into the main draw via qualification received the specified qualification points in addition to those for reaching the respective round. Otherwise the amounts are not to be understood as cumulative. Prize money for the double competition applies per team.
