The defending champion in the singles was the Frenchman Gilles Simon , who no longer took part in the tournament this year. In this year's final, the five seeded Spaniard Albert Montañés won against Juan Mónaco in two sets with 7: 6 2 and 7: 6 6 . For Montañés it was already the second title in the current year and his third title in his career. In doubles the French Nicolas Devilder and Paul-Henri Mathieu were defending champions, but they too did not take part in the tournament this year. In the final, František Čermák and Michal Mertiňák won the final against Johan Brunström and Jean-Julien Rojer in straight sets 6: 2 and 6: 4.
The field of participants in the individual competition consisted of 32 players, that of the doubles competition consisted of 16 pairs. The total prize money was 398,250 euros; the total financial liabilities were 450,000 euros.
The qualification took place from September 19-21, 2009. Four qualifying places were played, which entitle them to participate in the main draw of the tournament.
The following prize money and world ranking points were paid out or credited for reaching the respective round. Players who moved into the main draw via qualification received the specified qualification points in addition to those for reaching the respective round.
