Lovro Zovko (born March 18, 1981 in Zagreb , SR Croatia , SFR Yugoslavia ) is a former Croatian tennis player .
life and career
Lovro Zovko's father Željko is a handball trainer and a former Yugoslav national handball player. His uncle Zdravko became Olympic handball champion in 1984.
Zovko was a promising talent on the Junior Tour. At the junior edition of the French Open 1999 he won the doubles competition with Irakli Labadze . He was also twice in a Grand Slam doubles final and twice in a singles semi-final. That brought him up to 9th place in the junior world rankings. As a professional, Zovko was mainly successful in doubles. With four different partners he reached five ATP finals , but could not win any. At the Challenger level , Zovko posted a total of 30 double titles. At the Grand Slam level, he was only able to win two matches once when he reached the round of 16 at the US Open in 2008 . In the individual, he never made it into the main field. He achieved his best placement in singles in January 2003 with rank 151 and in doubles in October 2008 with rank 45. In 2013 he dropped out of the top 200 for the first time and subsequently played less until he played his last tournament in Banja Luka in 2015 .
Lovro Zovko played in a total of 10 matches for the Croatian Davis Cup team , for which he can show a 6: 9 record.
