Albert Portas (born November 15, 1973 in Barcelona ) is a former Spanish tennis player .
Career
He turned pro in 1994 and won his first doubles title in 2000 at the Umag tournament , where he would achieve further good results in his career.
In 2001 the clay court specialist won the individual title of the German Open in Hamburg . In the final, he defeated Juan Carlos Ferrero in five sets and thus achieved an improvement to 19th place, his best world ranking position .
In his later career he also took part in various Challenger tournaments and played in the German Bundesliga .
After his playing career, he was Daniela Hantuchová's coach from November 2008 to February 2009 .
