Dinu Dănuț Mihai Pescariu (born April 12, 1974 in Bucharest ) is a former Romanian tennis player .

Life

Pescariu celebrated as a qualifier his first match on the ATP World Tour when he won the first round in Kitzbühel against Steve Guy . As a result, he mainly played in satellite tournaments and on the ATP Challenger Tour . In 1991 he was in the individual finals in Geneva . In the course of his career he was able to win nine singles and four doubles on the ATP Challenger Tour. His greatest success was the title in ATP Umag , where he remained victorious in 1997 alongside Davide Sanguinetti against the Slovaks Dominik Hrbatý and Karol Kučera . He reached his highest ranking in the tennis world rankings in 1998 with position 75 in singles and 1997 with position 114 in doubles.

His best individual results in Grand Slam tournaments were reaching the second round of the French Open , Wimbledon and the US Open . There he beat Goran Ivanišević in 1997 and then failed because of Jens Knippschild . In the doubles competition he also reached the second round there in the same year.

Pescariu played 17 singles and four doubles games for the Romanian Davis Cup team between 1991 and 2000 . His individual balance was 9: 8, but he could only win one of his doubles games. His greatest success with the team was participation in the first round game in the 1996 world group. In the 3-2 victory over Belgium, he was used in doubles.

He represented Romania at the Summer Olympics in 1992 and 1996 . In 1992 he reached on the side of George Cosac what quarter-finals in the doubles competition, he competed in singles and doubles, but was eliminated in the first round.
