The Romanian Davis Cup team is the national tennis team of Romania . The Davis Cup is the most important competition for national teams in men's tennis, analogous to the Fed Cup for women.

history

In 1922 Romania took part in the Davis Cup for the first time . The team made it to the final of the Cup three times: 1969 , 1971 and 1972 . In all three finals, however, they lost to the US team . This makes Romania the only team, alongside India and Argentina, with more than one finals that has never won the title. By far the most successful Romanian player is Ilie Năstase , who won a total of 109 games in 52 games within 18 years, 74 of them in singles and 35 in doubles.
