The Kazakh Davis Cup team is the national tennis team of Kazakhstan . The Davis Cup is the most important competition for national teams in men's tennis, analogous to the Fed Cup for women.

history

Kazakhstan has been taking part in the Davis Cup since 1995 , with some players having previously played for the team from what was then the Soviet Union . Kazakhstan achieved the best result in 2011 when it participated in the world group for the second time. After a 3-2 win against the Czech Republic , the team made it to the quarter-finals, but then lost to Argentina 0-5. Kazakhstan was able to repeat this result in 2013, 2014 and 2015.

The most successful player is Alexei Kedrjuk , who has won a total of 66 games within 15 years.

A special feature of the team is the origin of most of the players: Due to the poor prospects in the Russian Davis Cup team , several players have already decided to take on Kazakh citizenship in order to be able to start in the Davis Cup in the future. In the summer of 2008, for example, Andrei Golubew , Mikhail Kukushkin and Yuri Shchukin were naturalized at the same time. Even Yevgeny Korolev began his professional career first under the Russian flag. Due to the sudden improvement in quality, the team promptly managed to advance into the world group.
