The Swedish Davis Cup team is the national tennis team of Sweden or its tennis association Svenska Tennisförbundet , which represents the country in the Davis Cup . Similar to the Fed Cup for women, the Davis Cup is the most important competition of nations in men's tennis. The Swedish team has already won the trophy seven times.

history

Sweden has participated in the Davis Cup since 1925 . In 1975 the team reached their first final, which they won 3-2 against Czechoslovakia . In the 1980s and 1990s, the Swedish selection was one of the dominant teams. She was able to reach the Davis Cup final eleven times from 1983 to 1998 . Sweden competed against Australia in 1983 and 1986 , but lost both times. In 1984 and 1997 , the Swedes prevailed against the US selection . The Swedes were in the final three times against Germany . In 1985 they won 3-2, in 1988 and 1989 Germany won. Sweden celebrated their last triumph against Italy in 1998.
