Sven Davidson
Sven Viktor Davidson (born July 13, 1928 in Borås , Sweden , † May 28, 2008 in Arcadia , California ) was a Swedish tennis player .
Davidson was one of the best amateur tennis players in the world in the 1950s, he was listed as number 3 in the world rankings in 1957. He won a total of 21 individual titles from 1949 to 1960. For Sweden he played 86 Davis Cup games , of which he won 62.
He reached his career peak in 1957 when he won the men's singles at the French Championships in Paris . He defeated the American Herbert Flam in the final . In the same year he won the International German Tennis Championships at Rotherbaum in Hamburg . In 1958 he won the doubles competition at Wimbledon together with Ulf Schmidt .
After his career, Sven Davidson worked, among other things, as a TV commentator. In 2007 he was inducted into the International Tennis Hall of Fame .
