The New Zealand Davis Cup team is New Zealand's national tennis team . The Davis Cup is the most important competition for national teams in men's tennis, analogous to the Fed Cup for women.
history
New Zealand has been participating in the Davis Cup since 1924 . Between 1905 and 1922 , New Zealand and Australia played in a joint team, which was then called Australasia . This joint team was able to win the Davis Cup six times, but these victories are awarded in today's statistics of the Australian team. Accordingly, the team celebrated their greatest success in 1982 with the semi-finals against France . Only the fifth game decided the final in France's favor, when Yannick Noah beat Russell Simpson in three straight sets . The most successful player and record player at the same time is Onny Parun with a total of 30 wins in 25 participations.
