Michael Venus (born October 16, 1987 in Auckland ) is a New Zealand tennis player .
Career
Michael Venus has won three singles and eleven doubles titles on the Future Tour so far. He has won seven doubles tournaments on the Challenger Tour so far. On July 15, 2013, he broke through the top 200 in the world rankings in doubles for the first time . On May 23, 2015, he and Mate Pavić won doubles at the Open de Nice Côte d'Azur 2015 and thus his first tournament on the ATP World Tour . In 2016 the two won the tournaments in Auckland and Montpellier at the beginning of the season , as well as the tournament in 's-Hertogenbosch in June . The 2017 season played Venus with his new partner Ryan Harrison . In May, the two achieved their first joint title win in Estoril . They celebrated the greatest success of their career shortly afterwards at the French Open 2017 , when they won the Grand Slam tournament as an unset double with a final victory over Santiago González and Donald Young .
Michael Venus has played for the New Zealand Davis Cup team since 2010 . For this he competed in seven matches, with a balance of 8: 5 in singles and 1: 5 in doubles.
