Mate Pavić (born July 4, 1993 in Split ) is a Croatian tennis player .
Career
Pavić, who won the doubles junior competition with George Morgan in Wimbledon in 2011 , has so far secured eleven titles on the ATP Challenger Tour in his career .
In 2012, he surprisingly reached the final of the ATP World Tour tournament in Zagreb with his partner Ivan Dodig . They were clearly defeated by Marcos Baghdatis and Michail Juschny in two sets with 2: 6, 2: 6. Thanks to a wildcard , Pavić celebrated his World Tour debut victory in the individual at the tournament in 's-Hertogenbosch in June 2012 . He defeated the seeded local hero Robin Haase in two sets in the opening round , but could not make it to the round of 16 due to an injury.
In 2013 he was again in the final of Zagreb with Ivan Dodig , but also lost this against Julian Knowle and Filip Polášek with 3: 6, 3: 6. On May 23, 2015, he won doubles at the Open de Nice Côte d'Azur alongside Michael Venus and thus his first tournament on the World Tour. In the 2016 season he won four other titles together with Venus. He also secured the mixed title at the US Open with Laura Siegemund . In 2017 he won three titles with different partners and stood in three other finals. With Oliver Marach he was in the final of Wimbledon , which they lost against Łukasz Kubot and Marcelo Melo 7: 5, 5: 7, 6: 7, 6: 3 and 11:13. After winning titles in Doha and Auckland right at the start of the season , Pavić and Marach won their first Grand Slam title at the Australian Open . Two more finals followed in February and April, including the Masters in Monte-Carlo . On May 21, 2018 Pavić took over the leadership of the double world rankings .
In 2013 he made his debut for the Croatian Davis Cup team . In 2018 he won the Davis Cup with her .
