Santiago González (born February 24, 1983 in Cordoba ) is a Mexican tennis player .
Career
González initially played mainly future and challenger tournaments; He was able to collect nine future and challenger titles in singles and a total of 17 in doubles. In the course of his career González has specialized in doubles and has enjoyed great success. He won his first title at ATP level in 2010 at the tournament in Belgrade alongside Travis Rettenmaier . In the same year the pairing reached another ATP final in Newport , in which they had to admit defeat to the Australian duo Carsten Ball and Chris Guccione .
González celebrated the greatest success of his career so far in April 2011 when he won the ATP World Tour 500 tournament in Barcelona alongside Scott Lipsky . In the final they defeated the world number one Bob and Mike Bryan after they had defeated the number 2 seeded Max Mirny and Daniel Nestor in the course of the tournament . At the end of the clay court season he reached another final at the side of the Spaniard David Marrero in Nice , but there they had to admit defeat to Eric Butorac and Jean-Julien Rojer . In August he secured his third ATP title alongside Daniele Bracciali . In Kitzbühel they defeated the Brazilians Franco Ferreiro and André Sá . With Scott Lipsky, he won a total of six other titles from July 2012 to May 2014. He won his tenth tournament victory in February 2015 together with Mariusz Fyrstenberg at the tournament in Memphis ; it was his first indoor title on the ATP Tour. The following year they managed to successfully defend the title.
Santiago González has played for the Mexican Davis Cup team since 2001 .
